How cool that poor optimization is now being rebranded as poor capacity issues, I’m looking at you fornite ceo I’M LOOKING AT YOU v:<

There is a 12gb version, but that does absolutely fuck all for anyone that purchased the 10gb version.

I play at 4k with my 3080. The most I ever have to do to get a decent frame rate is use the high preset on games and turn down volumetric stuff.
LucidDream1337
gpu’s that u can upgrade would be nice. with a vram slot for example
tht1guy63
3080 had a good price that next to nobody actually got. Personally wouldnt have called it a 4k beast though but i also dont think we have had a true 4k card till the 4090
Hrmerder
It’s still a beast if you turn off RT and use AMD Frame Gen! (I have a 12gb)
AggravatingDay8392
2016: 8GB GPUs!
TankFucker69
3080: I used to be powerful, but then, they changed what powerful means
I-LOVE-TURTLES666
Ti has a 16gb version too
NowaVision
I had the 970 GTX with it’s 3,5 GB VRAM for nearly 8 years and I never had a single issue.
Shinonomenanorulez
yeah about that “decent MSRP” on the 3080…
blackray58
I use it for 4k gaming with ray tracing and the only games I’m having sometimes issues is cp2077
Impressive-Level-276
At least you didn’t spend 1500$ for a 3090 for only 10% more performance

I have a 5500xt with 8gb of vram, and that was entry level like 5 years ago.
xxxxwowxxxx
The 16GB 6800xt, the 3080 competitor, doesn’t have this problem.
Strongit
The more I see, the more I’m considering AMD when I finally upgrade my 1080 ti. Still a ways away, so hopefully by that time the decision may be made for me.
Mother-Translator318
Well, based on the leaked 50 series prices, youll be keeping that 3080 for a few more years.

My 6gb 1660 Super is crying in the corner rn
Crimsonclaw111
I have the 10gb version at 1440p, still a monster card, will easily hold over for quite a while at least. You can’t be at max settings forever.
RunalldayHI
I used to have the 10gb 3080 ventus, it was basically hardware locked to 320w but even at 1440p I still maxed out almost every game except wukong and Alan wake 2, those didn’t do well without dlss and/or with RT.
Surprisingly, I never ran out of vram, it’s like they knew what they were doing lol
bafrad
The 3080 10gb is still great as a 4k card. This crying over vram makes no sense. It’s not a bottleneck.
ian_wolter02
And it will happen the same with the 4090 in 2 years!
Sioscottecs23
And there’s me
meteorprime
This has been happening every four years for the last 20 years
Nobody ever wants to buy a GPU that’s two generations old.
