AFAIK most actual uses cases for this are heavy virtualization. The folks who run dual socket Epycs will have up to 24 memory channels and 256 cores on a board. If you want to carve that up into, say, 64 virtual servers to effectively keep that thing moderately loaded, then that’s only 64GB of RAM per VM (assuming no overcommit) if you have 4TB in the system which is not that huge. That’s an EC2 m7a.4xlarge instance, for example, and that same instance class scales up to 768GB of RAM (m7a.48xlarge).
I’m sure there’s some large database loads that would love that much RAM, too, since they tend to scale up rather than out.
I assume they have a 12 and/or 24-channel kit, too, since that would match up better with modern Epycs as well as the P series Xeon 6 (E series Xeon 6 is 8 channels per socket, similar to previous gen Epyc).
I think you need atleast 8TB of ram just to future-proof it… /s

I use to work on pre-production server hardware about 12 years ago.
I remember loading servers up with 3TB of RAM, 4 Processors, and multiple Co-Processor cards, and Nitro Megaraid cards. This was back in 2012.
Was awesome building and testing those.

Windows Home doesn’t even support that many RAM. You’d need like an Enterprise version which is a monthly subscription only as far as I’m aware
