Translation: Bethesda’s most popular game that’s been released on every single gaming platform and is 10 years old has more players than their new DLC that’s out only on Xbox and PC.
Gaming journalism is dumb.

i’m a bit confused. since this article wants to do numbers from SteamDB, i did try to see if that was true.
Skyrim has its peak at **287,411** around 12 years ago.
Starfield has its peak at **330,723**, 13 months ago.
so like, where the heck did people get the impression from this article from? i’m genuinely curious?

They should just completely ditch Starfield and focus attention elsewhere
grmayshark
yes Starfield is less successful than one of the most influential and played games of all time.
Harmanz_from_deep
This is natural, because Skyrim is a legend!
fuckedfinance
I forgot that Starfield existed until I saw this post.

Yeah look, they need to fuck Starfield off and focus on the next Elder Scrolls. Read the room, Bethesda

The cope from starfield fanboys in here is my entertainment

Bethesda is dead and we’ll never get a real elder scrolls 6. The only time that would have been possible is if it came out instead of fallout 4. The company is far too out of touch these days

Considering that the achievements for shattered space replaced some rare .01% of people have this achievement on steam for CIV5 after nearly a decade… It’s concerning.

Does it though?

Starfield fucking sucks, and honestly so does Xbox right now. Xbox Series X was pointless for me to buy. Their exclusives are trash. Everything about them lately has sucked!

skyrim is a master class.
starfield is a failure.
simple as dat.

Releasing a paid DLC for a game that is still in the state Starfield is in, only a year later, really feels like a big insult to your player base.

Honestly this should make us worried for the next elder scrolls game if it even releases this decade. I think the biggest mistake was them comparing it to far harbor for this dlc without understanding what we loved about it
Dracondwar
*on steam.
Starfield is #26 on Xbox most played games for the US. #21 in GB, #26 in France, etc. mostly beating out D4, Elden Ring, Baldurs Gate 3, Sims4, etc.

One can only hope that this will be a wake up call for them and they change things up before releasing anything else.
Then again, maybe I’m just too optimistic.

I actually thought about playing Skyrim again and trying a two handed weapon build and eventually devolving into a sneak bow and arrow and dagger build lol.

And yet they have the balls to say Starfield is the best game they ever made.

Writing was on the wall with FO4. FO4 at least had a fun gameplay loop, the lore was shit and it gutted the RPG mechanics. Starfield just confirmed those fears. When the next Elder Scrolls or Fallout game comes out I’m definitely waiting to see how it plays first.

Fewer. Fewer people playing it than Skyrim.

at (05:45PM GMT+7), SteamDB shows that:
[Skyrim](https://steamdb.info/app/72850/charts/) is currently having ~1300 players. and [Starfield](https://steamdb.info/app/1716740/charts/) is having ~8600 players.
and if you want to do “peak”,
Skyrim has its peak at **287,411** around 12 years ago.
