Glad x3d coming so soon to 9000 series. My 3900x needs a performance upgrade. Will probably give my current pc to the wife and build me a new one once these chips come out.
Looking for it to upgrade from my 7600x if it’s a meaningful upgrade
I’ve been gaming on PC for over 20 years but I don’t understand these terrible CPU developments and the talk about them.
Digital Foundry said and tested that the best CPU on the market (7800x3d) is 70% to 90% more powerful than the already bashed, console level, r5 3600 non “x”. 2 generations, new socket, ddr5, new architecture + revolutionary 3D cache, extra cores, huge clock differences.
And people get mad when a GPU is 20-30% more powerful than its predecessor. Like what? 10% CPU is good but 30% on GPU is bad?
What am I missing here? CPUs get 10-11% performance increase and what?
And the price? I can get a 3600 for 30-50 euros. In my country, a 7800x3d is 400 euros. Why does a 9800x3d matter for example?
When a game is so CPU limited, there is no CPU on the market that will make it run so good that it will skyrocket in performance to justify the price they are asking. At most you will get double the fps. Note that I am still talking about absolute top and bottom in terms of products. The performance differences between the two become even more ridiculous.

I wonder when will AMD make the 3d v-cache the standard and stop offering the none 3D options. Especially on the 8 cores and 6 cores models
