For those interested:

This console generation really is boring and lacking "next-gen". 90% of the games I’ve played doesn’t even run at a stable frame rate so I was eyeballing PC for a while now.

Actually, it was Sony that put the nail in the coffin and made clear to me that the console market is nothing for me anymore.
I am the type of person buying new mid gen releases of consoles and I initially wanted to switch from Xbox Series X to the PS5 Pro, until I learned about the price. In Germany the console, stand and disc drive would cost 1000€ which is totally overpriced for a console and especially with such a small upgrade.
So, I was done with this mediocre generation and heavily concerning price raise and went all out and made a PC which hopefully will serve me well to play games at stable and high frame rates and delights my eyeballs with stunning visuals for a long time.

Here are the list of parts that I have used:
– be quite Dark Base 701 (+ 2x Silent Wings 4 120mm)
– Mainboard: ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F
– CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D
– GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 4090 GAMING X SLIM
– RAM: Crucial Pro DDR5 32GB 6000MHz
– Storage: WD_BLACK SN850X 4TB
– PSU: be quiet! Straight Power 12 1000W
– CPU Fan: be quiet! Dark Rock Elite

    Welcome little one

Seems like an *okay* build for a first computer. But you’re going to struggle with a lot of tasks like accurate predictive meteorological modeling, and computing the total mass of the universe. You should have just bought Frontier from Oak Ridge Labs.

And now your console becomes an overpriced streaming device. But I have no regrets. Lmao

Very nice! Welcome! Just curious why you went with only 4 fans when you have room for 2 more fans and rocking *very* beefy hardware.

  5. DarthRyus

That’s one hell of an upgrade! Congratulations!

Brother went from driving a hot wheels to a space yacht. Congrats on the build!

Edit: what are you gonna play first?

  7. ItsN0tjustLuck

Good call on the CPU I’m on my 3rd cpu since October last year. Fuck intel

  8. ItsN0tjustLuck

Concerned about price of ps5 then spends double msrp of a ps5 pro on a GPU. Well played

WELCOME TO THE LEAGUE OF THE MASTER RACE

As a heads up, from a former Be Quiet owner, the fans can be a little lacking. They’re incredibly quiet, but they don’t move as much air as rivals.

As a console gamer who is thinking about making the switch, how are games vs console (I know you just built it but if you have tried any games)? Noticeably better graphics/performance? Was it what you were expecting?

Nice to see a tasful build that isn’t pure rgb

  14. Individual-System-32

You’re really gonna regret not having enough RGB in there to light up your house at light /s

On a serious note, I see you have money and like to treat yourself. I highly recommend getting an ergonomic chair to help keep your back in a youthful condition as I forsee you spending literally weeks in that setup per year. The Herman Miller Aeron is my go too, but they have other chairs like the steelcase leap that is more flexible for various sitting positions.

  15. Im curious… is someone helping you build this? Ive built a pc before but the expensive parts really make me question doing it by myself and im in the market for basically this kind of pc.

I only ask because on my first build ever i accidentally fried the motherboard by shocking it with my finger and that mb only cost $100

You have been enlightened my child. Welcome 🙏

Great choice with the case. I have the 700 and I absolutely love it.

Don’t underestimate the power of a good screen. OLED TVs are great but IMO some things are best played at a desk with m&k. With that GPU you can take great advantage of frame gen and fast screens. I got the MSI MPG 271QRX paired with the 4090 and the smoothness is unreal. Coming off the PS5 you can replay Returnal with M&KB in 180fps easily. Frame gen is iffy but looks good in high base fps. Welcome to the master race!

Hold up, is that a 4060!?!!? KILL HIM! (I struggle with flipping the numbers 6 and 9)

  19. WeakDiaphragm

Congratulations and welcome to the PCMR community.

But… I think you pulled the trigger too soon. This build is not future-proof. You will struggle to hit 60fps at 8k in 2 years from now with that RTX 4090. If you had just waited 18 more months for the RTX 5090 Super, you’d be guaranteed longevity all the way up 2027. /s

I love the dark rock elite. Not the cheapest thing in the world but it has insane performance for what it is.

  21. So ridiculously envious every time I see a “first build” with top end parts.

Imagine booting that fucking thing up when the height of hardware to you is a *PS4*

“Guys! Look at my first car it’s so cool!”

I need to ask…. What monitor you running all this through?
