In the same way? No. Cyberpunk (the theme) is one of my favorites regardless of this title.
GTA 6 will easily be a great game, and I’ll love it. But I don’t see anything topping Night City to me.
It will probably take hours and hours from me but there’s no way it affects me in the same way Cyberpunk did. That’s not happening til Orion
They’re very different. CP2077 has actual themes and one of the best stories and characters in gaming while also being one of the stronger entries in the genre as a whole. GTA has always been mindless fun which slowly turned into a soulless cash grab.
Yeah I enjoy South Park but it has nothing on prime Community, y’know?
Don’t see the need to compare the two. Cyberpunk Orion can learn from rockstar when it comes to the open world, other than that they’re very different games

GTA by design is meant to be way more accessible than this game.
GTA isn’t exactly known for its intellectualism, plot, themes that make you think, and the cyberpunk dystopia that we could actually see happening. That’s what makes this such a great game is the writing, characters, and interesting story. GTA has little to none of that. Nope.
GTA is a cultural phenomenon at this point. It *has to* be good. That’s the expectation.
Although I’m very disappointed with Rockstar lately.
I don’t think Cyberpunk is a masterpiece, and GTA has proven it can deliver, so I expect it to surpass it, but Cyberpunk has shown a lot of potential, especially Phantom Liberty. I think the next instalment could knock GTA off its throne.
No way in hell, nothing against gta… it’s just that I don’t think they can top the cyberpunk dystopian aesthetic .

It’s pure for gameplay. The maps are flatter. It’s a representation of the default world. There’s not much there for the imagination to go wild.
Art style goes to Cyberpunk no matter how realistic GTA6 becomes to be. That alone wins it for me.
They are different settings but I GTA 6 will have our jaws hanging around our ankles in terms of graphics, open world design and simulation, and tech. The writing and characters will also be top notch as Rockstar, who are the masters of the genre, is known for.
I doubt it. I’ve been a huge high fantasy nerd for decades and one month of cyberpunk and I am already feeling my love for fantasy dwindle in favor of the cybernetic dystopia of NC.
Maybe I just love the doomed feel of it. That not everything gets a happy ending, and this one does it right in the best of ways.
As a huge GTA fan and as of current situation I feel no desire to play GTA 6 with all the asshole decisions Rockstar made lately. Think I will eventually, when it’s free on EGS or something. Not a penny of my money will ever go to Rockstar ever again. They made it clear they value money over quality and that’s not something I’m comfortable with. To answer the question, no, even if I put aside everything I said before, no GTA game before was even close to Cyberpunk and I doubt it will. GTA games are good, they make you feel something, but they were never able to make me laugh and cry as genuinely as Cyberpunk keeps doing.

I prefer the more serious tone of Cyberpunk over GTA. I really enjoyed GTA-V, don’t get me wrong. But just the overall themes and atmosphere in Cyberpunk 2077 were more my taste. I also really preferred the storyline of GTA-IV compared to V though. And I just really like the sci-fi and cyberpunk genres way more.
It will be more content rich without a shadow of a doubt, so most likely yes. However, nothing really compares to night city and all of the lore within. I’m expecting to have a blast but it will be a different experience for sure.
Nope. I doubt GTA will be anywhere near as immersive for me, as it’s not a role-playing game. GTA games are more like interactive movies, they’re a lot of fun, but to me they don’t manage to create the illusion that you as a player are making significant decisions and guiding the path of events.
I will definitely play GTA 6, but I extremely doubt it will have the same effect. This game is something truly special and unique.
I’ve never really loved Rockstar games outside of RDR1/2, but if they can bring in some of the mechanics from RDR2 I’m sure I’ll love GTA6.
Cyberpunk is on a while nother level for me though. The setting, stories, music, weapons, and art style are extremely my shit.
For me the world of Cyberpunk holds a special place in my heart, Sure Rockstar does the open world better but their usual gang banging recipe was never that appealing to me (I know V is the same but not exactly)
The city atmosphere is among the best imo.
They lack in NPC AI, accessibility, use of their map, random incidents, and maybe some other things I can’t think of ATM.
It’s still a great game and I love the story but if youre going to compare open world games then Rockstar set that bar extremely high.
Not the same way. But more in other respects. From an open-world perspective – I expect GTA6 to captivate more. I expect Rockstar to deliver a higher amount interaction and life to its world and NPCs – it’s what they excel at and have poured an incredible amount of resources into it.
No because I love this genre and GTA won’t even be close to that same atmosphere. It will most likely be good on its own though which I look forward to exploring and finding all the little things they always hide to find, that is where it will be most similar
Comes down to the story. It COULD be great, but if it’s just another up-and-comer criminal protag, no.
Might be great and I do like it a lot, but I’ve always been of the opinion that if you have to mod a game for it to be good, then perhaps it wasn’t all that in the first place
Masterpiece is strong.
And I don’t think there is a point in comparing the two. One is a sandbox action game, the other is a sci-fi shooter.

But GTA is on a whole different level of open world.
Rockstar has truly mastered the formula of delivering interesting open worlds with lots of fun exploration and side missions.
While I still agree Cyberpunk is now a 10/10.
GTA VI, like GTA IV and GTA V, will be an 11/10 if not higher.

Honestly, probably. Hell, Shadows of Doubt and the original splinter cell series captivates me in the same way. It’s not really all about stunning modern tech in the graphics, or a super lore heavy setting, as long as the art style works and the setting is *good*
I know the art “style” of GTA is just the world but, like I said, probably. RDR2 was alright, GTA V was okay too, so I don’t see why not
Tbh GTA never got me. Except for San Andreas, that game was amazing!
