    Yeah, been there.

To me, the biggest jump was between PS1/N64 and PS2/Xbox/Gamecube era. That was a difference I could see.

Ever since then, each new generation’s differences have seemed smaller and smaller. I think it was around 2016ish that the only difference I could tell between two gaming consoles was one might have more contrast or lighting compared to the other.

I’ve just realize it compares Performance Mode which is a lower graphical settings than Fidelity Mode so why didn’t Sony compared Fidelity vs PS5 Pro, was it because Fidelity would appear the same with PS5 Pro if that so they are misleading the public

  3. The only logical explanation I can think of is that Sony chose such a price to avoid the scalper problem we had at the release of PS 5. They will keep the prices at these levels for a few months, after the scalpers collect all the consoles in the market, they will lower the MSRP prices and re-supply the consoles to the market. So the consoles that the scalpers bought will explode in their hands.

Or, I don’t know, they just went crazy? Because I don’t think they’ll be able to sell more than a million with so little change. Why would someone with a PS 5 Slim and a disk drive buy a Pro for twice the price? Or don’t most of the people who will be hooked on the stuff shown in the presentation already have desktop gaming PCs?

Its not so much the settings bump that interests me. But the resolution increase. Especially with shitty upscaling. I can’t stand the blurry mess of games like outlaws and Space Marine on performance mode.

I however don’t value it to the tune of £700. I’m not an idiot.

One problem I see is that in the case of the PS5, the Pro console doesn’t help anyone but Sony’s shareholders. Games practically have to run on 2 systems. The Pro and the normal one. This means that the advantage of optimization is lost. For both platforms. And while the PS5 Pro will have enough power to compensate for much of this, it still won’t be able to exploit the full potential of games. For developers, it is an enormous additional effort to develop / optimize on both platforms (Pro and standard). What’s more, the performance level of the PS5 is already pretty good anyway. In my opinion, a Pro version is not a necessity. Furthermore, the problem will be that games will be cut in their resolution or framerate for the normal PS5. Why? Because developers want to save themselves the extra effort of optimizing for 2 systems mentioned above. This means that customers of the normal version will sooner or later have to live with games that have a lower quality than they could have had.

They need to trick the Sony fanboi’s into giving them some cash with all the failures they’ve had recently to recoup that cash. How else are they going to release more games that will fail?

I like how in their mind the selling point is the “distance texture”, okay? Your have a further load range for texture, why would that matter when you fight stuff in front of you.
