I have been saying since Xmas that I’m going to buy a 7900GRE, but my MSI 1660 Armor seems to be fine with most of what I play and throw at it.

I mean, just look at the PC requirements for AAA and even AA games these days. They demand a pretty powerful rig.
It’s not about being obsessed with having the best of the best. Unless you stick to older titles or small indie games, you’ll need a pretty decent rig to handle new releases, especially given how badly optimized some of them are.

You can have great fun gaming with stuff that’s quite old now. Like you go compare the various incarnations of Sniper Elite, you can’t tell a whole lot of difference between IV and V.

I purchased my 980ti in 2015 for €650. Currently, a 4080ti costs at least double that amount. If you use an inflation calculator, you will realize that inflation does not account for the price increase as some people would have us believe.

I think 1080 is a good resolution to play at. 4K is incredibly overblown, imo. And for that res, many cards will do the trick.

I have hopes that Radeon will bring back value for money with the next generation. The 5700xt is like a 1080Ti, that came a bit later but for cheaper. People often forget.

You can just like… not buy stuff you don’t need, and then Nvidia has to stop overcharging.
But they don’t, and then complain, about a problem they caused.

Yes! Thank you! I’m so sick of seeing people who think they need a GeForce 4090 and a 14900K, when in most cases they’d be fine with a Ryzen 5 or i5 processor and a RX 6700 XT or GeForce 3070. People are absolutely obsessed with having the latest and greatest, with the argument that “it’ll last longer”, not realizing that they’re potentially putting themselves in great debt for hardware that their workload won’t be able to fully utilize.
