This is my little project, I like building shitty pcs. It ofcourse isn't meant for gaming yet, so before I see lots of comments about the gt 710, it's just temporary. I plan to get a gtx 1050ti which will play the lower end fps games

I did something similar(with the same case, but AMD ryzen build) but added a plexiglass window and a homemade infinity mirror over the disc drive.
My paint job was a mix of white krylon with layers of white plastidip, which combines into that semi-crackled white refrigerator texture from the 90s. Kept some black accents as well as the silver grill.
Actually sold off the motherboard w/ram, PSU, and CPU of the original Dell and made back the money I spent on the case, corsair replacement power button/front IO piece, paint, plexiglass, led strip, and one way mirror tint film.

Fun fact: This is what swindlers on ebay do, they put RGB in old Optiplexes, add cheapo RGB peripherals and then sell them to uninformed people as “HIGH ENG GAMING PC CORE I-7 GEFORCE GTX”.
Why a 1050? That PSU should have a PCIe power cable, so you should be able to go for a 1060 or better.
You might also be able to swap the CPU to a cheapo 1270v3 (4770K equivalent) from aliexpress, but I’m not sure if HP BIOS supports Xeons.
I have a Dell Optiplex 9020 MT , and I love it. It has an i5 4570, 8GB of RAM, and an AMD Radeon HD 8570, and I can play my favourite games with no problem.
It looks clean ! Really love it !
Its fun repurposing old hardware into something usable. Perfect PC for some minecraft or roblox. My son started gaming on my old work laptop. He had a blast. Later on I built him a budget build (Ryzen 2600, RX580, 16gb of ram and a 1tb SDD)

My friend has the same cpu and GPU combo, so it can handle it well without too much cpu bottleneck.

I had a Wii u collecting dust… Sold it and replaced with similiar optiplez, i7 4770k and rx580… Now I use that PC as an arcade machine… Runs most ps3 games too

I’m impressed. This is the first sleeper case I’ve seen that has the potential for enough airflow to run modern components. If I’m not mistaken, that standoff pattern is mATX, so it could take a modern motherboard instead of the intel core gen 4 I think these shipped with.
Based on people in this subreddit, you can sell multiple of these to morons online for 10x the price!

My Optiplex 9020 with an RTX 2060 thumps most of the games I play.
Looks clean friend. I love running those old beasts. Just got a Dell Precision 5810 from a thrift store. Threw in a 1080, bought a six core Xeon to swap with the four core it had, tossed in a pcie nvme adapter and upped the 16gb ddr4 to 32. Doesn’t make a sound, and runs everything I play on max settings at 1080p. Best part is that the case has handles, like my 2008 G5 Mac Pro tower, so I guess I have a theme going.
If you can afford it and have the head room with your psu, try for a higher 10 series. I’ve seen OEM 1080’s go for $100 on eBay and that will last you quite a bit. I’d keep upgrading mine, like giving it an 8 core CPU and 128gb of ram, but I’m already pushing the limit of the poor 685w it has, and I’m too lazy to buy the 825w. Old business dells are fun to fuck around with and super cheap to upgrade.
I have an Optiplex I was using as my old Plex server and I repurposed it into a gaming machine for when Im on the couch. I got a Dell OEM GTX 1650 for it, since it does not require a power cable. It plays great. I was very surprised at what it can do.
