Overconfidence, lack of passion and direction. I like apple products but they are usually %30-40 more expensive than they should be at least imo

cool, but just use a usb dongle

Haven’t you noticed yet, Apple’s innovations are often more profitable than others.
Like the removal of the headphone jack
First they create the issue.
Then they solve the issue by selling AirPods that only last about 2-3 years or by selling the 3.5mm jack dongles.
In the long run, they innovated their profit margins.
They gatekeep their 120Hz oled panels for the top of the line pro model, while you can buy entry level phones with 120Hz as default option from other manufacturers.
You want 120Hz refresh rate? Oh too bad, spend even more $$$.
And the worst part:
Others are following.
Because what works for apple, works for everyone else.

Or you know improve cooling and repairability while having the device slightly thicker… you know so fucking thick, that nobody feels bothered by it…

Granted, this solution by Fujitsu was super fragile and while it may work for business laptop, on a consumer device it would just mean tons of repairs when stupid people break it.
Apple Innovation? Haven’t seen any of that in about a decade.

Apple don’t wanna, Apple don’t do.
They took the 3.5mm jack out because they couldn’t make the phone thinner and then added lens’ the size of a door knob.

This honestly just looks destined to fail.

They made PCMCIA expansion cards that were much thinner. This is the Chevy Suburban XL of mobile Ethernet.

It’s not lazy, it’s form over function, I thought everyone knew this about Apple.

The obsession this sub has with Apple and PlayStation is kinda hilarious

Shoving a massive Ethernet plug into that delicate little thing is imagery so powerful that not even Freud could finish unpacking it

Apples chips are innovative. My mobile workstation has no fan/no moving parts. I’m a software developer for one of the big 4 that uses it daily. I’ve built gaming PC’s across 3 decades. I have an appreciation for all tech, and I love Apple. With regards to Ethernet connections, I have them for all my consoles and my PC. I do not ever need it for my MacBook, but I have a dongle for it in case. My question is, who is the demographic that will be impressed by this Ethernet port innovation?

Apple inovated 3 times and that was decades ago.

I think apple would say ” Pleb go afford Wifi7″

Of course they’re lazy as fuck

The processor doesn’t have enough bandwidth for another port. Previous iterations had 4 Thunderbolt ports. Now, the devices have a HDMI port instead and only 3 ports. Internally, this is just a Thunderbolt -> HDMI converter board. LAN would mean to either loose out on another Thunderbolt port or let it be downgraded to normal USB-C.
I think the current option is fine, heck, I’d give up the HDMI port again as it was in previous MacBook iterations.

There have been much better compact Ethernet ports around for more than 5 years now.

This looks like it would break by simply looking at it.

That is awesome, until it inevitably breaks because of how many potential fail points there look to be.

Some of the best code I write is due to laziness
