Anyone have any idea what this is

Mobile 3080 for use in computable laptops. What about it? You can’t realistically use it in a desktop PC if that’s what you were wondering.

  2. This is a bit odd (maybe just to me) because the Sager chip is in some kind of PCI express adapter for a desktop. I’ve never seen one before but I think this would be a very niche product if that’s what it is?

This is a mobile GPU in an MXM (Mobile PCI Express Module) that appears to be fitted in some sort of adapter card to fit it in a normal PCIe x16 slot as well as some fan headers and display outputs. Basically everything you would need to use it in a desktop besides an actual heatsink, I believe. I would be a bit apprehensive about this though, since I looked up pictures of other RTX 3080 MXM modules and found that the die size tends to be much larger than the one pictured. It is possible that this is a lower end model and the seller is trying to trick you.

I also don’t know if this would work in a typical desktop machine without any modifications or changes to your computer’s settings, but I don’t know for sure. I’d say this might be a good option on a budget IF you can find a cooler that will fit it.

I don’t have the right Intel on it…. Hahaha (you may laugh now)

Didn’t think they made MXM for years, like multiple GPU generations.

It’s a laptop GPU on what’s called an MXM module, plus an adapter to PCIe. You’ll need an appropriate cooler.

If it’s a full RTX 3080 chip, it will work like a regular 3080 with significantly limited TDP, something like 180W instead of 350W.

If it’s a 3080 Mobile, you’ll need hacked drivers since nVidia doesn’t want you to use mobile chips in desktop PCs.

i salvaged MXM RX 5700 module with an PCIe 3.0 16x adapter similar to this and it works on desktop without any VBIOS modification but it only worked on specific motherboards and fan header would not read the RPM and just spin at 100%. It’s probably hit or miss for people looking for desktop graphics card but nice for people who wanna swap out their laptop GPU module if the price is reasonable.

Its a mobile gpu on a pci riser board

Is a PCI express card that looks to be adapted to hold a mobile GPU. If that’s what it actually is that’s kinda crazy. @LinusTechTips should buy it and do a video on it.
