I might get some flak for this, but start out with pub matches and change the firing to simplified mode to get a feel for it, then go back to the advancing firing for more practice without automatic firing. Additionally the type 19 sniper rounds might also be good to get a feel for semi autos, it’s a bit more forgiving just not as powerful as the sks.
Semi automatics are tough no matter what and envy those who master, and definitely not for everyone. That said, mastery or not, everyone should use them at the very least for fun and a change once in awhile. Good luck!!
Ps- sometimes I still will switch them to simplified firing despite all the practice, and because I get lazy.

It works well on maps like standoff, firing range, coastal, Tunisia, and raid. I would use it mostly on snd, and hardpoint if you know how to play slayer and keep enemies away from the objective but that will only work if the rest of your team is playing objective and staying in the hardpoints. Just never use it on domination or on smaller maps
