One is a real computer, the other a locked down piece of shit that grabs you by the balls for the company that made it.

  2. No-Hospital3094

Yo I’m just here for the free internet

  3. coachjuis21

Why are people trying to defend the $700 console made for enthusiast and not consumer. Sony literally said fuck you guys and your ok with it lmfao

  4. one is a handheld computer, the other is a stationary console that requires multiple things like tv, outlet etc

  5. Dipper14

I’ve been a strong user of PlayStation since I was a kid with the PS1, but fuck the PS Pro.

Glad I got into PC gaming years back. I used to play them alongside each other but honestly don’t think I’ll bother getting another console again.

  6. SignalGladYoung

Lets see the State of Play and what games they will reveal.

The steam deck is basically just an extension of my PC and is an all-in-one console that doesn’t require any special subscriptions or external peripherals to function. The PS5 is a locked down pile of garbage that requires a monthly or yearly subscription in order to have online functionality and doesn’t even come with a disc drive by default to support my existing games library.

  8. Vis_Ignius

You just blow in from stupid town, OP?

This is a stupid comparison, and you know it.

  9. floeddyflo

Steam deck doesn’t require you to pay to be online and gives you access to the internet as well as a real OS and the biggest game library on earth.

  10. You’ll easily get more negative feedback on a pc subreddit.

It looks like what nvidia are doing. They looked at all the scalping and lock down rush and want more money.

The biggest problem is that the regular PS5 can be had really cheap making the price a lot worse.

Steam Deck is essentially a portable PC in a small form factor marketed as a gaming handheld. You can play everything as you can on PC on it (with mods and free LAN/server multiplayer) or even use it as a normal Linux (or Windows) desktop.

The PlayStation can go fuck itself.

  12. Several_Foot3246

bad comparison, you only pay that much for oled which is optional you can pay around like 300$ and still get a good one and just upgrade the storage on it but 2230 SSDs are a bit more expensive

  13. luigithebeast420

Yeah? Well can I take my games from home and continue them on the go? Could I do my homework on it? Could i have a desktop experience in which I can use it as a normal pc?

  14. SharpEdgeSoda

Honestly if Sony just decides Nintendo nailed it and all Playstations are Handheld/Consoles hybrides from now on, we’d all be better off.

    PS6 SHOULD be a $600-700 hybrid.

  15. Darkon-Kriv

Steam deck had multiple price points and ok specs compared to a laptop of equal cost. This really isn’t comparable.

  16. imaginary_num6er

One is the most Pro console the other is the most Valve handheld

  17. Academic-Indication8

I think a better comparison would be laptops and even that is a iffy comparison

Also comparing pc’s to consoles is kinda like comparing apples to oranges they are similar but not the same thing

One provides an open environment with multiple uses but that comes at a higher price

The other provides a specialized environment with 2-3 uses which it does rlly well for the price albeit locked down and less overall useful

Whether pcmr users agree or not the price to performance of consoles still is rlly rlly good even compared to a pc minus having to pay for online

And whether or not pcmr users agree a $700 gpu upgrade on an already built computer is not the same as a $700 pro variant of a console nor is it cheaper overall simply due to the fact that most users are upgrading from ps4 pro to ps5 pro and not from the ps5 to ps5 pro

  18. AdInternal323

i got a free 700 steam deck by selling dota tf2 and cs2 items that were gathering dust in my inventory though

  19. Geeekaaay

Imagine paying a subscription just to access your games on the internet and complaining about any other platform.

  20. Limp-Ad-2939

That’s the most expensive option. Least is what 400, 500 usd? Admittedly the storage sucks but I have it and have never had an issue personally

  21. Trollyofficial

Tell me who owns a ps5 and not a steam deck without saying so.

  22. GlowDonk9054

Because the Steam Deck is well-priced for its power, though I hope I can install Windows on it so I can get a dock and use it as my main gamer pc

    I don’t like Linux

  23. Zhe_Wolf

We don’t need to pay 80$ a year to play online on a steam deck

  24. JustaRandoonreddit

Doesn’t the steam deck max out at 600 US and comes with a OLED display?

  25. Generaldar

This is a dumb post. They’re not the same thing and the deck is still better
