Do you guys think there will be a good ending in the next installment (Orion) ?

put *good* in thick chrome plated heavy quotation marks

The endings for 2077 weren’t ‘bad’. They were bittersweet, meaning not all ‘and they lived happily ever after’, but they weren’t awful either. All had a ray of hope for V in some way, shape or form.

At best I’m just going to assume one “least depressing compared to the others” ending like The Star.

A good ending? For folks like us? Wrong city, wrong people

    CP77 has “good” endings.

Hell I can argue every ending except for Devil is a “good” ending.

Just because an ending isn’t “happily ever after” doesn’t mean it’s a “bad” ending.

Every ending has hope, even Devil (sort of) if you decide to become an engram.

Now I have my own opinion on what happens to V after the endings, which I have expressed here more then once (to some peoples annoyance, as they dislike said opinion), but despite my own opinion I could still argue there are “good” endings.

In terms of quality I think they are all good. They each have a varied final mission (except Tower, but that’s an extra), and a decent ending sequence, some of said sequences are better then others, but still good.

Cyberpunk setting kinda meant to be depressing, no happy endings and such.

    It’s said all the time,

There are no happy endings in night city

None of 2077’s endings were “bad” except the Devil ending, but even that one can be argued in favour of bittersweet.

If >! V’s death !< can be considered a “bad” outcome, then sure, you could say most are bad, but honestly, to me, the Temperance ending feels the least worst within this context:

    >! V’s body gets to live on with Johnny and V goes off to be “with” Alt.!<

Note: I’m still not finished PL, please no spoilers, I’m about halfway there (WHOA-OH!).

I don’t expect the endings of Orion to be any happier than those of 2077. Varying degrees of “bleak af” to “bleak but with some reason for hope.”

I would not be surprised to see a questline or something in Orion which hints at V’s survival, possibly as an AI making the Temperence/New Dawn Fades ending semi-canonical. Depending on your point of view, that could retroactively make the ending of 2077 seem happier.

It’s a dystopia. There isn’t supposed to be a good ending. That’s the point of a dystopia.

I prefer to think of endings as the ones I deserve for the way I played or lived as my character.

  12. The problem is you think V was the lead character… and they never were. The star of Cyberpunk is Night City. It’s a meat grinder, and it’s the star of the story.

I’m sure there will be an ending where at least one person survives. That’ll probably seem good in comparison

15 years from now when the game drops, if it doesn’t have a good ending I will generate one with ai

For some of the characters, sure. But this is cyberpunk, and “good” endings aren’t the point of cyberpunk.

In cyberpunk, a good ending is one where the character finally feels at peace with the life they’ve had. It’s not a happily-ever-after, because nobody gets that, it’s a “my life meant something after all,” which, in a world where people are reduced to a number on a data shard, is a pretty good ending

It’s not cyberpunk if the main character doesn’t get screwed over in some way.

  17. I think the best we can hope for is a bittersweet ending like the Star ending
