How “Manhunt” almost caused a walk out at Rockstar Games in 2007

  1. Looking back Manhunt was wild. Now it wouldn’t even get a second look. As for Rockstar, they had the power to pay back then, now they don’t give a fuck.

Manhunt is glorious, imagine the outrage it would cause today.

Just got Manhunter 2 for my Wii! Excited to experience the sequel. Loved the first one.

Rockstar were kings of the 00s. So many great games. They just tried what sounded cool.

The Warriors is still a GoaT.

With today’s shows and games Manhunt isn’t that crazy anymore. If you want something that probably would be banned today check out Harvester, that game is fucked.

My main memory of manhunt is that it was narrated by Logan Roy

Meh, always thought it was weird how that game became so infamous.. games like Carmageddon or Kingpin was way more violent.

I’ll never forget visiting my uncle for Christmas and watching in horror as his six year old son unwrap a gift and it being Manhunt 2 for the Wii… The dumbass literally walked into a store and was like “give me the hot new stuff” and didn’t think for a second about what any of it was.

I thought Condemned 2 was bother better and visceral in it’s violence. I remember the media circus over manhunt and wondering why that and not the Condemned series. The media and its selective outrage never changes.

On the hot coffee section, He says he doesn’t think it was malice, But the code was obfuscated? I’m no programmer, But isn’t that at odds with each other?

It’s funny looking back at the controversy manhunt. First, the employee reasoning that “at least with GtlTA you can rationalize you’re killing the bad guys.” Manunt’s bad guys were worse than most you’d see in any GTA game. They were horrific and depraved. That was part of the point, that as bad as you the main character are, the city you’re in is so much worse in its depravity.

Then just the whole violence and gore aspect in general. Manhunt was violent and gory…but today it wouldn’t scratch the top ten l, and even back then there were far, far more brutal and gory titles. Many of which you COULD kill innocents.
