I’m gonna be honest. I didn’t give this map a fair chance on release because I was fairly disappointed with the BO4 launch maps and still kinda pissed about them changing the perk system so much. (Rightfully so as this perk system change was really dumb)

This led me to refunding the game out of anger and never touching BO4 again… Until this week. I realized that while Sony processed my refund all those years ago, the game itself and the season pass were still in my library. So I redownloaded the game and played Dead of the Night for the first time and holy cow.

This map is beautiful. It reminds me of Buried. It’s massive and elaborate while also not being overly hard to train in. The Alistair’s Folly wonder weapon became one of my new favorite wonder weapons of all time as well. Oh and let’s not forget that freaking Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) is a character in the game. His voice lines alone make this map amazing. Only issue was figuring out pack a punch which I think could be less complicated but it’s not a big gripe.

Of all the BO4 maps, I’d love to see this one get remastered with the OG perk system. It really has a lot of potential.

Also shout out to the box guns from BO4. I feel this game had a way better weapon selection in the box than BO3. Also I hope we get a casual/easy mode again in BO6 because it definitely made just sitting back and playing the map far more enjoyable solo, especially as my first time on the map.

Sony did *not* process your refund all those years ago. There’s a reason it was such a big deal they refunded Cyberpunk. Sony doesn’t refund for shit. It took as big of a Cluster fuck as Cyberpunk for them to allow refunds.

If you’ve played the game and it isn’t completely unplayable, you’re not getting refunded. Blue screens a couple times a day are not unplayable.

Also DotN is the worst map on the game. Fuck that map.

100%!!! It oozes flavor, has so much stuff to do, has a great fucking WW and EE. Love it.

  3. I’d argue its more of a high B. The map does have some amazing features and ambiance, but the set-up process for pack-a-punch and the fully upgraded Alistair’s Folly can be quite tedious. And I think the Nosferatus can be really annoying if you’re hoarding the zombies too. Nonetheless, still a great map in its own right.

  4. The map was fantastic, just a bit disapointed with the secret rooms, I’m a sucker for castles/mansions with secret areas and without taking into account the secret cementary, i wish it was in some part of the map a secret passage that it could go to a big secret room but nevermind.

The only thing that pushes it out of S tier is the sheer amount of minibosses. The Vampires and Werewolves just get to be a lot in the later rounds.

It’s not really a DotN issue specifically, All the chaos maps have this issue imo. Literally reduce the numbers and honestly, all of the Chaos Story maps were baaaaaangers.

Honestly such a underrated map such fun atmosphere and aesthetic. The music feels so fitting and the characters are so fun

I mean I haven’t played it but man oh man is that a hell of an ensemble cast.

Kiefer Sutherland, Charles Dance, Helena Bonham Carter & the one and only Brian Blessed

Can someone PLEASE recreate this map in Bo3 custom zombies? I think the maps layout is honestly awesome I just hate Bo4’s systems.

  9. I will never understand the hate for the perk system. People doesn’t like customization at this point

I don’t like dead of the night very much personally. It’s got really nice A/V and the voice acting and story is cool, but the gameplay just doesn’t do it. Too much time spent not killing zombies. That’s a problem on several of the maps in BO3 and BO4 for me. I know a lot of people love all the tasks and quests and prefer the time not spent killing zombies to actually killing zombies and surviving rounds, but it just isn’t my cup of tea personally

DotN is one of my favorite maps of all time, but it’s not without its flaws imo. Just the process of setting up is very tedious (and a walkthrough is basically required if you take any long breaks from it, it’s not a map I can easily come back and play) BUT once you’re set up it’s so good.
