I mean its just a static image, I dont know what the ps5 pro does but on console games textures are fixed I think so its more about performance as in FPS actors loading in, general loading times and so on.

I mean there are people who pretend to not see a difference between RT ON vs OFF in PC games, so you know.
And also the Sony’s presentation was clear what they try to achieve. A Fidelity mode graphics with Performance mode fps so you wouldn’t need to choose between those anymore. And there’s tons of comparisons of Fidelity mode vs Performance mode graphics of many PS5 games. You can see those differences there if those tiny screenshots they’ve shown on a video aren’t enough for you.

Rule of thumb, if you have to zoom in to showcase a difference, then there is no difference. Especially not 800€ worth of differences. ^(stand only sold seperately)
ThereAndFapAgain2
Nah, if you watch the video there is a definite difference.
It’s still way overpriced but there is 100% a noticeable difference.

I love how Sony just basically introduced an effective argument to just use PC by the pricing of this “upgrade to your console”.
Lime7ime-
It’s simple, if you double the price I expect twice as much performance and that’s not he case.

It’s basically Quality mode at 60fps with better upscaling. It’s not going to be night and day different, but it was noticeable in motion. The stationary camera comparisons were less convincing. They had to zoom in, and then it was mostly just a different in clarity. But in motion, the smooth frame rate and better upscaling made for a better presentation.
Is it worth $700? Not to me. I would have a PS5 if they didn’t have such severe shortages for so long, but I have a PC that is way better now, so no need. But I can see a new PS5 prospect giving the Pro a hard look. I think the price is way too high, but we’ll see how they sell. Sony is clearly trying to create a new pricing tier, and I don’t know if there are enough customers to make it work.
bllueace
The difference is there an its definitely noticeable, but its also 100% not worth upgrading for that price. Maybe if I already didn’t have a ps5 I would pay extra for the performance.

You could buy an Oled Steam Deck or a decent gaming PC for that much.

I see the difference. It’s not worth it

The point of those comparisons was to show that with the Pro you get all the benefits you would get from the separate performance and fidelity modes at the same time, without the drawbacks. Obviously the Pro is very very expensive and it doesn’t make any sense for most people who aren’t rich to buy it, but like.. just don’t then?
ConstructionCalm1667
The console users barely get a solid 60 fps in some games, what is this going to change?
Tensza1
Something I don’t understand, if both of them have the same hardware (I know that the pro gonna have more TFLOPS) then in theory they could easily relase the upscale technology on the regular ps5, no?
Famous_Attitude9307
It’s quite ironic that a sub with RTX 4090s are complaining about this, while there is a clear difference here.
It’s the same sub that pixel peeps to compare DLSS to FSR, or buys new hardware to get from 120 to 140 FPS.
DependentAnywhere135
A compressed YouTube video and there was still a clear difference in the video. People really have no idea what they are talking about. Getting fidelity settings at 60 fps instead of 30-40 unstable frame rates is a pretty big upgrade. I mean a PC is still better and consoles have lost their place in the discussion imo, but it’s not honest to say the pro isn’t a big upgrade because it is.
Nintendo is kinda the only console that still makes sense imo. They actually do something different than just being a worse PC. If only they didn’t sit on the switch for so long because it’s ancient now and that’s holding it back by a lot.

In reality it doesn’t really make a difference, not large enough to spend $700. You might improve performance a bit but it’s not going to make any game look any better at least not enough to warrant buying a second console unless off course they release new games and new texture updates that will only work with the new console which I wouldn’t be surprised if they do to make the old console obsolete.
