Yeah we are never getting affordable GPUs again

Sony watched NVIDIA overcharge 40 series with no issues and decided to do the same. If any of these people actually decide to build a $700 PC instead of a console half of them will end up with an 8GB 4060Ti.

  2. El_Androi

So buy an AMD card or go to the used market, tf you want me to say?

  3. Clipboard4

Here i am still wait for cheap 3090ti/3080ti second hand…

  4. SwagChemist

My gpu alone was $799 but I plan to hold on to it until it gives up on me (hopefully for 7+ years)

  5. Benji2995

A decent GPU lasts like a decade so the value is much better than a console

  6. kinomino

RTX 4000’s prices are nothing compared to 3000’s during mining rush. I do remember people were paying $500-600 to 3060’s 😭.

  7. SizeableFowl

PCMR would rather bitch about overpaying for RTX cards that can’t actually ray trace than use radeon. Its hilarious.

  8. AMD focusing with mid range GPUs could be a big Brian move (I still bought my 7900XTX for $850).

  9. Dreamnobe7

Well 800 in Europe to be fair that is a lot of money

  10. Healthy_Macaron2146

Jesus, what does AMD have to do to convince you idoits to buy them, I mean, Nvidia is already doing everything in their power to get you to buy amd already.

  11. matiegaming

Yk, a good quality gpu lasts longer than the console will

  12. Cheap-Chocolate-4931

    You can get a 3080 for @£300 and it’ll kick ps5’s arse

  13. Just stop buying green team and embrace red and blue team.

  14. SadBrazilian82

We are at a point where if the 50 series doesn’t go up in price it will already be a victory

  15. msdtflip

We are never getting affordable life again.

  16. juicermv

The 4070 Super is a great card and it’s priced perfectly imo.

  17. PretendFisherman1999

That’s the thing, those graphic cards are not only used for gaming.

  18. feedme_cyanide

Ha I’m still on an old XFX RX580 8gig at 1080p, and I can still do more with my PC than a brand new console.

  19. digitalbladesreddit

My first costed 35$ and it can play all the new games ;( in the next 3 years … and it was mid class.

Now if you want to play a game that came out yesterday, you better save up for that next top of the line card.

  20. Why is everyone complaining about 40 series prices?

I think it’s the norm nowadays, you can’t expect to buy a 4090 for under 1500$ or a 4080 for under 800$ or something.

GPU prices have always hung around and increased in prices every year. (minus the crypto crash)

  21. tesmatsam

When 5000 will drop the 4000 will look cheap

  22. SoDrunkRightNow4

We just need competition and those prices will drop

I understand technology should be improving, but people are getting effectively 1080Ti performance today out of $300 RTX 4060s… which doesn’t seem too terrible to me.

I only just made this upgrade strictly for form factor reasons as I went from a 4U to a 2U chassis for my gaming PC. The 4060 low profile cars from gigabyte is crazy comparing the size difference from my old 1080Ti. The halving on power consumption is also really nice!

  24. EternalFlame117343

Here’s hoping AMD’s next desktop APU comes fast…

  25. DIRTRIDER374

Just remember, you can blame everyone who paid scalper prices, so the manufacturers all know they can do this and you’ll still pay.

  26. Got an open box 4070 at microcenter for $400. Some kid bought it, realized it didnt have rgb (base gigabyte windforce) and returned it. Saw it randomly online and left work to go get it. lol

To be honest, the GPUs of today are very powerful in terms of raw performance. When you consider the performance jump from 2 generations ago. The prices have increased, but you don’t really need 4090 performance for most games and applications. The problem lies with rushed and unoptimized AAA titles. There are games with better graphical fidelity from 2017 that run on GTX 970 better than the games we have today running on high-end GPUs, which says a lot about the industry.

  28. It’s so weird to hear this being said only 2 years after the worst GPU market in history, especially when discounted RDNA 2 and RDNA 3 are approaching Pascal/Polaris levels of absurd value.

You’re really gonna look at something like a $280 6750xt and say “we’re never getting affordable GPU’s ever again?”

How about the regularly on sale 6650xt that goes for $200 like every week? How about the RX 6800 deals that dropped as low as like $350? You’re telling me a card that crushes 1440p and even enables 4k gaming with decent frames and settings for $350 is unaffordable?

For that matter, we’re also now entering a golden era of integrated/mobile graphics being amazing, which is why the handheld markets are exploding. Hawk Point and now Strix point are paving the way for thin and light laptops to be reasonably priced AND enable good entry level gaming at 1080p. For that matter, I’ve seen plenty of 4060 laptops on sale for $800 or even less. So you’re telling me an entire laptop for $800 that can play any game on the market at 1080p and run it well is too much? Because that $800 laptop is WAY more useful than a console, overall.

I mean the first result on Newegg for desktops is a prebuilt with a 4060 and an i5 14400F for $1k. That’s way better than a base PS5, the GPU probably matches the Pro, and the CPU is much stronger than either model. I get the stigma around prebuilts but the fact that you just order it and plug it in is a big appeal for those used to console. And as far as price, if you buy a PS5 Pro and 4 years of the cheapest PS+ then you’re already over $1k. Not to mention the disc drive is another like $100

I just don’t get who the Pro is for.  People that have enough disposable income to pay for more frames and pixels will get a PC, and people who are on a budget and/or don’t care about resolution will just stick to the base model.

waiting for Intel to come up with something better

  31. VacationAromatic6899

No-one seems.to care to stop the psychopats running this world, Vanguard and Blackrock, so be ready for even more inflation than you have ever seen before

  32. It’s the consumer’s fault for paying the price.
