Steam needs to update requirements for games to be on their platform. Actual integration vs whatever the fuck all the launcher roulette is these days.

Decided to download watch dogs 2 from xbox game pass
As soon as I clicked install
It prompted me to install ubisoft launcher
I quit it and went the sailors way, I hate install crapware on my pc for every game I want to play, I am willing to sack the multiplayer if the game is old enough

Civ VI finally ditched their launcher, it was just for selecting between DX11 and DX12 so I’m glad they just integrated it properly into Steam

I have legit stopped buying / installing games I own that require a multitude of launchers. Yes, I’m cutting my nose off to spite my face but honesty, every single damm time I tried to boot afor example a Ubisoft title or Rockstar, it ended up being like a 30 minute ordeal.
Update first, then sign back in, can’t remember password, sort the password, we have emailed you a code etc. etc.
I just wanted to play Far Cry 5 for half an hour guys !

Microsoft flight simulator went one step further hiding the main installation folder and patching only from within the game not steam. 2Trillion pound company and still behaving like dicks.

To me that is the 2k launcher, to play xcom2 we used to go thru the modlauncher so it wouldnt take it to that horrible launcher
This was implemented to support optional cross-play between Steam and Epic players and to synchronize friend lists between the two stores.
