I'm catching up to speed on the story leading up to the BO6 narrative, but something I'm trying to help explain so my girlfriend can catch up to the story is the amount of Richtofens. Seriously, there's a lot of Richtofens! I know the game describes two versions as Ultimus and Primis, but as soon as you get to Blood of the Dead, there's 3 different Primis Richtofens (Lab Richtofen, Post Zetsubou Richtofen, and Post Revelations Richtofen), 2 Ultimus Richtofens in Classified (Pre-Moon Richtofen, Post Buried Richtofen), and then finally Dimension 2210 Richtofen aka Eddie who we see at the end of Tag Der Toten. Which is more important for the main narrative? feel like this multiverse narrative really confuses the heck out of me and every other person following this game lol
TL;DR – What Richtofen or Richtofens should I focus on for the story to better simplify it and follow the BO6 storyline?

If anyone is confused by who Lab Richtofen is, he’s the one in charge of giving the blood vials to his other self.
The only important ones are Primis, Ultimis & Eddie.
The replacement from BOTD is sent to Alcatraz by Pablo Marinus — during ‘‘The Great War.’’

For BO6 focus on American Richthofen honestly l feel ya the story for zombies is sometimes confusing.
The important ones are Primis Ultimus and Eddie.
Primis and Ultimis are the ones we played as in BO1-BO3. Which are the most important
Classified Richtofen takes place in between Shangri-la and Moon,
Classified Cutscene Richtofen is post BO2
Post-Moon Richtofen (which is now BO2) is the voice inside Stuhlenger’s head (sorry misspelled) which is the same one as Classified Cutscene
Post Zetsubou is the one in the great war armor in BOTD that never experienced Gorod Krovi or Revelations who we play as in BO4
Then the Ultimis crew in BO4 is the same one we played as in WAW-BO1

**- Lab Richtofen** is **Great War Richtofen** (Post Revelations) after the **Blood of the Dead** ending cutscene, you can see how he enters a separate portal.
– **Post Zetsubou** is the one that dies on **BotD.**
– If i remember correctly, in **Classified** there was only 1 **Ultimi Richtofen,** the ending cutscene is a bit misleading, because it looks like it happens **before moon**, but it does not, theres a conversation between Ultimi Dempsey and Ultimi Richtofen, where Dempsey asks him **how did he get back to his body**, so its **post buried, he is turned into a zombie by maxis,** he has some stories with victis which are seen in the comics, and at some point **he finds his body, touches it and his souls enters his body.**
– At some point before **The Giant**, **Primi Richtofen** we know kills a version of himself from **Dimension 2210** to get his soul, like we do in BO3 with the remaining crew members. He is sent to **The House** before they recolect all the other souls. At The House the soul is converted into a child.
– At the end of Tag der Toten, **Primis and Ultimis dies,** and **Eddie and Sam are transported into a new universe. Eddie is the one we see in Cold War and Black Ops 6.**
– In terms of importance, the **easy answer is that Eddie is the important now**, the rest are dead, bye. But the thing with Richtofen is that due to all the dimensional travel **he is the more contamined with 115,** that makes him have **mixed memories of every version of him, Eddie included.** Thats why **Eddie still remembers what happened in the old Storyline.**

Okay, so when you break it down fully the simplest way to explain it is there are four “main” Richtofens, albeit they each have a long and nonlinear path to follow if you want to go in depth with each. I will try to ClifNotes this as best I can because its already going to be a long post just getting the basics.
We have “Ultimis Richtofen”, who is the same in literally every iteration save for the one shot in the face in the cutscene of The Giant. Barring that very dead one, every time we see/hear Ultimis Richtofen it is the same one we know and love. Zombie Richtofen from Buried and the comics is also this same Richtofen, as is both iterations of him in Classified (Ultimis is there simultaneously from both the past and the future, by mere coincidence).
“Primis Richtofen” is who we see in Origins, all of BO3, the comics, and Blood of the Dead. He is “Lab Richtofen” who gives blood vials to the others after the events of Origins but before they meet up at The Giant, he is the one that goes through every iteration of the Cycle except for the last one. For all intents and purposes, every Primis Richtofen is the same one who is just experiencing different points of the same Cycle.
“Great War Richtofen” is the outlier, this one is the one that realized they were in a Cycle and was tired of this perpetual torment. So after being sent to the Great War from Revelations, he teleports to the Alcatraz Lab with Pablo’s blessing and the Elemental Stone of Fire and puts himself in a secret cryopod to wait for the broken cycle to begin rather than die in the Great War/however he died in history. When he defrosts during Blood of the Dead, he leaves Primis Richtofen to die knowing they all are at their end anyways. “Great War Richtofen” takes over his role from that point , dressing as his old self but retaining what he knows from previous Cycles and humbled (if not butthurt) by the fact that he was wrong and needs Nikolai to take charge to change things for the better*. (*They were not for the better, but I digress.)
Eddie, the child iteration of Richtofens, was the pure “true” soul of Richtofen collected from Dimension 2210. What we know about him in regards to the Aether timeline is Primis Richtofen/Great War Richtofen had to make Eddie trust him and then kill him to preserve his/their soul. Monty gave Eddie a new physical form in Agartha, and due to his and Sam’s souls (and bodies) being intact at the destruction of the universe/multiverse/omni-fucking-verse they were allowed to pass into the new singular universe/timeline. I am not up to date on Dark Aether lore (played Cold War but that’s it for Dark Aether), but from what I remember Eddie grew up to marry a wife and have a child, both of which were killed (I believe unintentionally) by Samantha and Weaver in an operation meant to kill Richtofen. He managed to weasel his way to the head of Requiem, and presumably has vengeful intentions for the two of them and all affiliated with them.
In terms of Dark Aether, Eddie is the only one you need to really know or keep track of to understand the story unless I’m missing key information that ties Aether story back into this one (aside from his history with Sam, of course).
