I did both endings and I don't know which is more heartbreaking. But even though Songbird lied from the get go to get what she wanted, all she wanted was to be free and get a cure for her illness. I have a true soft spot for Songbird.
I have sympathy for So Mi but Reed will actually cure V, so its not even really close honestly
ToastyCaramel
I went with Songbird myself, I hate that I had to kill reed but I mean V did warn him. So Mi clearly lied and I definitely did not trust her after but the crap the NUSA will do to her is worse probably than we can imagine. I think she’s already been through enough hell and deserves some rest after her life being the way it was. Plus the cure ending is just way too depressing, plus my V is selfless, she won’t trust Songbird again but she would have helped if she’d just asked.
Which of my playthroughs are you referring to? There are 18 to choose from 🤟🏼😂
ThanksIllustrious671
In my first play through I went with songbird and the twist on the train ride to the rocket was honestly amazing and I ended up sending her to the moon. On the second one I sided with Reed and did the whole horror mission of getting to songbird. That being said I loved both sides of the mission as well as how both give you an option to swap right at the end and it feels natural to swap sides that late in the dlc.
phillyhandroll
I shot Stringer Bell. You come at the king, you best not miss
DutchJediKnight
Both. Because I wanted all endings.
But the best option is >! The mercy kill in the base !<
Treyman1115
Sided with Reed but killed Songbird. Sending her to the moon sounds nice in theory. In practice she seems to dangerous to be kept alive. Just seems like she’d just be made into a tool again
fadedmofo
I sided with Reed, because I wanted the Blackwall cyberdeck. Song would have been the correct choice if I didn’t know about the gear.
ShelLuser42
Emotionally I always side with So Mi / Songbird. Yes, she lies to you but then again.. so does Reed. But there are 2 things which dramatically win me over…. First… that moment where you get to wield the power of the ~~dark side~~, errr: Black Wall… it’s… insanely powerful and such a dramatic turn of events.. that moment alone…
But second… now, the silly comment here is: “*You also don’t have to fight the Cerebus*” which is a mission I really don’t enjoy because here you are… you can take down an entire gang of Maelstroms… but when the plot can’t work around it you’re suddenly powerless against a single Cerebus unit because “plothole”.
My **real** motivation though: Songbird is *sincere*. Have you ever checked the area where you meet up with her (the van) before heading to the space center? Spoiler alert: >!she left a message for you there in which she actually apologizes for her actions, making So Mi the only valid choice for me; emotionally speaking!<.
DuskelAskel
I’ve seen 19 000 000 000 reality and I choosed Songbird in all of them.
JudgeJoeDean24
The issue comes from that everyone has a hidden agenda that goes much deeper than a choice on face value. Sure, Reed can give you an access to a cure but at the cost of almost everyone and everything you once had. I’m also pretty sure the FIA nerf you on purpose so you wont be a threat to their future plans in Night City. I get it that So Mi lies to you, but helping her is the morally better thing to do. I know we don’t know what Mr. Blue Eyes has up his sleeve, but the way I see it, Alex gets to have a life, So Mi gets to have a life, and depending on what goes down at Arasaka Tower, V has hope.
egoncasteel
Reed came off as a NUSA robot. How am suppose to side with tool with no loyalty left to give to anyone. I did him a favor blowing his head off.
Glittering-Strength2
Went with songbird and didn’t regret it event tho she lied i still think that was the best decision
Throaway061
I went with songbird, got seriously pissed off when she said there won’t be room for me and gave her to Reed
Reasonable-Salad7975
Dang now I wish I got the expansion when I could’ve
release_the_wolves
always So Mi
BL00QX
Reed
Mason_DY
Songbird, but by the end I hated both of them
Eborys
So Mi. But I loved both of them, and even though I fucking knew first playthrough that she would screw me over, I just felt so damn sorry for her I couldn’t do anything else but help her.
RiwetV
I would be okay with songbird but the fact that mr blue eyes sponsored her escape is a bit sus.
biscuitboots
Sided with So Mi and sent her to the moon even she lied. Like I understand where and why she’s going this but like my V said, coulda been honest from the get go because we’ll understand.
Economy_Tomatillo181
I went with no side lol, I killed songbird but I think that was for the best. I’ve seen other endings and I thought this was the best considering you get to see songbirds flashbacks, she’s at least free from suffering, from the rogue ai and also from being abused by the government and myers. Hell even reed starts to open up and tells you that you’re right . Can’t remember much but I believe you tell him that myers isn’t gonna take care of her or smt along those lines and reed says you’re right and depends obviously what lines you choose but when you choose the right ones he starts to actually open up and starts seeing the bad and negatives with the government and with the whole thing, lost his friends and all that. What he’ll do after, guess we’ll never know since myers already gave him a relocation and to mentor some kid or somethin but he doesn’t really know if he should or not, but he says that “he’s alright with not knowing what to do” probably because he was always a “yes man” person
Only thing I hated about this route of the ending was the damn horror sequence 🥲 loved the horror aspect but having to hide and run was stressful
a4moondoggy
Songbird but i was disappointed in the lack of closure. hope she gets well then tries to help. Couldnt trust the feds.
Caregram
I did all four endings, just see them all, with the intent to have one be my “carry forward and finish the game,” and at the end, I think I prefer siding with Reed the whole way through. If for no reason other than my V is a woman of her word, and everything with So Mi…
y0gS0tt0th
Sided with Reed and pulled the wire afterwards as I had a bad feeling about what will follow for her.
GuZz91
On my first playthrough I sided with Reed.
PrinceGaffgar
Reeds the logical choice he at least tries to do the right thing whether or not it works out is a different story.
So Mis situation is fucked but she literally brought all of it on herself.
Yeah the feds conscripted her but that’s because she tried to heist a major megacorp it was either that or jail or death.
Then she conspires to kidnap the president, and intends to screw you over from the very first moment she asks you for help and says she has a cure.
The main thing that sucks about it is Alex dies (which makes no sense to me it seems like she should die if you side with So Mi)
She’s sympathetic sure her life is a living hell dealing with the blackwall.
I honestly think the main reason people side with her is because she’s a hot girl.
Sensitive-Ad-3098
most choose so mi because she is a cute asian everything else is just looking for excuses why are they all made the choice they made
WingedDrake
I love Reed as a character, and if I could save him while freeing Song, I would.
But.
Myers is straight-up evil, and Reed decides to follow her even when Song is being straight up abused by her. That decides his fate for me.
Different folks can play differently, obviously, but for me, V seeks ‘right’ over pure survival. It might be a matter of degrees, but judgment calls are what separates man from animal.
Demonking3343
Reed. I didn’t feel that songbird was in her right mind, or at the least in full control. But It’s not like i completely sided with reed, when it came down to it I put song bird out of her misery instead of letting her become a lab rat for the president.
Edit: though when the French girl was killed I did hesitate if I was on the right team.
PirouetteSnow
So mi everyday
Expensive_Leave_6339
The first time I sided with Reed, and then the next hour of my life was pure terror.
05032-MendicantBias
Songbird, she is like V, but if V had the right Chum to fighting trough NUSA’s special forces.
BreadBoxin
Me. I’m not about to get played by the government, but FUCK Songbird. She just lies and manipulates you the whole time and only tells the truth when it doesn’t matter. No thanks. So kill her and tell the government to eat shit.
Oilswell
So Mi every time. I like Reed, but I fundamentally believe that So Mi’s ending going to the stars is better for everyone except V, including Reed. Every ending where he survives leaves him miserable and despondent.
JackieBoiiiiii
I side with Reed now because
1. Fuck SoMi i will never forgive you for fucking me over in my first PL playthrough. She doesn’t deserve to live anymore than my V does. If she had no qualms fucking me over to survive, than I have no qualms fucking her over to survive
2. The Tower ending is an amazing ending if you aren’t a child with limited world view
3. Reed is a bro
Alarming_Parsnip408
Too the moon every time where true freedom is. Fuck Reed and his corpo leash to NUSA and the FIA.
Greedy-Toe2070
I first sided with So Mi, then in the train I changed to Reed because I got mad at her for lying to me. Mostly mad because getting her to the train was a pain in the butt(not the best build at the time). Then the ending was so depressing that I replayed it and sided with So Mi all the way and then picked one of the other ending options. It was actually far more satisfying, though I felt really bad for having to kill Reed 🙁
Even if Reed was the one with the cure, So Mi and V kind of fight the same battle against people abusing their power and using you for their own interests. To break free from all that. So yeah, siding with So Mi definitely felt like the right thing to do in the end, despite her lying to get help.
Well, that’s the beauty and pain of this game that no choice feels 100% right or wrong. Even if it feels right, it still comes with flaws, or goes super wrong like with Clouds.
PrufrockAlfred
The usually very-vocally-opinionated Johnny even admits that he’s stumped by this one, which is a great indication that both paths are worth checking out.
>V: *”What would you do, if you were in my shoes?”*
>Johnny: *”I* **am** *in your shoes, dumbass.”*
But when he praised me for not taking ‘that fascist-ass oath’, I knew he would have my back, whatever happened… as long as I didn’t sell out.
Whatever you do here, do the right thing after, V.
There is no life in crawling back to the machine and begging for more time. Just another empty promise from Night City in exchange for your soul.
Sirfury8
So-Mi because I want his gun for every play through lol.
Feelthederp
I sided with Reed cause I thought Songbird was hiding something
I mean…
I was paranoid…
But I was also right…
Kalaaleq93
Songbird.
NUSA suck and who support / loyal to NUSA.
Illasaviel
I sided with Songbird. It’s the most satisfying ending to me.
