The graphics might be great. The gameplay was stale.. we just had 3 ac games with almost no gameplay changes
Lol remember when Ubisoft made good games? AC3 is one of the lesser liked AC games, but it still beats the stuff they put out now
It’s the last Assassin’s Creed that somewhat followed the original story before Ubisoft decided to make it a forever game. Now no one knows what AC story is about. It’s a “sightseeing trip” for all intents and purposes lol.
Haytham was such a cool character. Too bad they only want to make new characters.
The modern AC ,while a bit too action oriented, is still amazing to look at and an absolute riot to play, only ignorant children who grew up hearing trolls shit talk about Ubi think otherwise.
Ubisoft has evolved, backwards.
There was definitely something back in the AC2 / ACB / AC Revelations days. It peaked with ACU which is still the ultimate AC for me. Gameplay wise they have nothing to do with anything post AC Origins.
IMO AC began to decline with AC Origin and peak garbage is ACV.
I actually like AC Odyssey but I don’t consider it an Assassin’s Creed. To me its more like a random RPG set in ancient Greece but I like how they executed it and I love the sailing.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla legitimately shocked me with how bad it was.
Ubisoft went from having comparable animations & world detail to Rockstar to now the blandest jerky games ever. Their games don’t even have major bugs to laugh at anymore as it seems they’ve configured the engine that way, there’s no physics, there’s no flair.
Now Sony studios are there, but they don’t have the coolness of the old AC era. Ubisoft needs to be bought by another company

AC3 was my first AC game. Enjoyed it very much at the time… it just made paradox when “Loved by everyone” AC2 was unplayable for me after 3, it was so backwards compared to 3

Freedom Cry is a fantastic entry too. I was hoping that would be the direction going forward, shorter games with a more focused story/location but Ubi will be Ubi.
I found the pacing of the third game lacking and there weren’t enough cool parcour spots. But in it’s Gameplay? It was great.

i just started a replay yesterday myself. AC3 may not be the best game out there but i really love it
The original AC trilogy was incredible. Unfortunately Ubisoft rode the coattails of that into the ground. That being said, I’ve been told Origins is actually quite good. Whether that’s just a case of being ‘good by comparison’ compared to what the series has become or it’s actually a good game in its own right is something I’m interested in hearing about. The friend that recommended it is in their early 20s and I don’t think they played the original trilogy.
Assassins creed 3 i will always respect for the sheer detail Ubisoft put into that world. For example Connor has dozens and dozens of takedown animations, and if you go into the Homestead, every character has a day-long collection of animations of them doing their job, such as chopping a log of wood and carrying it away.
Ubisoft have not since put this much work into a game. I thought AC4 was fantastic but it all went downhill after that.
Ubisofts world map team is doing better and better with every game.
Sadly everything else with the games is getting worse.
Other companies need to hire Ubisofts world building team and fast.
I have a save on my 360 from a playthrough I finished on December 21st, 2012. Still keep it cause of that. I did my best to time it at the same time Desmond died.
Played one and two then picked up the odd one inbetween (Black Flag, Origins, Odyssee).
Playing Mirage now and warming up after a disappointing start.
I don’t think the characters are voiced or written well (too many tonal and emotional shifts and all over the place) but of all the new ones I like how compact the world is and that materials/money plus “investigations” gameplay seems less balanced towards “upsell”. There isn’t that abundance of weapons and outfits that usually oversaturated these games.
Getting to chests ( upgrades ) feels a little more puzzle like and challenging. Combatants don’t just fall over in fights (though you can smoke bomb and just assassinate if you want things to be easy) and generally if feels a bit more how I remember the second one and played the last few.
The “design” (gameplay, puzzles, level and world layout and investigations) is improved from the last few games though presentation (acting, music, first hour, story) is a step backwards, which is a shame.
Especially as the Second one got so much of that right. Also, that has Jesper Kyd’s music: Venice Rooftops, so good. Would deliberately fail the mission to hear that music again.
In my opinion Mirage is a step (small it might be) in a more design focused direction with better integrated mechanics.

The thing i hate about Ac3 is it takes a long time to get the good part, I mean playing as connor.
This is a good game, a solid 8/10 if you just forgot all about the technical issues and the hate for killing off a certain character from the previous games.
I loved the plot twist in the prologue, but still it is very lengthy, to me.
I was on an AC binge on PC but I had to stop when I reached AC3 because Ubi changed the controls and my muscle memory from the first four games was so baked in I couldn’t cope. I need to revisit this now because I was really enjoying Desmond’s story.
My first pc game without knowledge of any requirement or what this game is about. once started me and my brother played it for almost 2 years what a time.
This was there first game I bought after making my pc, played it multiple times and really enjoyed the multiplayer
I fuckin loved AC 1 to 3. I tried Black Flag but there was something off with the controls and it turned me off.

I used to love the AC, I played from II all the way to Syndicate. I tried origins but couldn’t really get into it. AC III was really enjoyable even with a boring protagonist. Syndicate and Black flag are were one of my favourite 100% i did.
At the end of the day though, Ezio saga is the one dearest in my heart
I remember how much hate AC3 and ACU got back in the day. I only recently got to play ACU because it was on PS+, but honestly? Best damn AC I ever played
Mostly nostalgia, most of the things Ubisoft is criticised for were valid also then like repetitive quests and checklist map. People were not fatigued from the formula yet.
Btw if you are on ps5 and the colors look washed out, you have to launch the game, go to PS5 settings and turn HDR off and then back on. It makes a huge difference.

Sorry mate, but taking a game where the draw is climbing over pretty and awe inspiring architecture and choosing a setting this dull isn’t something I really understand. In fact it was so dull they said fuckit we’ll just do a pirate game next time instead (which was fucking rad). I remember liking the spinoff that was somewhere in between 3 and 4 though. Getting hunted yourself made the setting more interesting.
Loved the Ezio trilogy. There’s something somehow cosy about wandering the streets of Venice at night. Especially during the story when you’re infiltrating the masked ball and there are fireworks going off everywhere. And despite it being quite a total change of scenery, I loved Black Flag too.
AC1 still holds up imo
