Banned from r/starfield for advocating for free mods.

Bethesda is on that bullshit of paid mods again?

  2. x_Jaymo_x

If you are using creation store to mod your games, you are not modding correctly.

That being said, bs reason for a ban

  3. henningknows

Bethesda is a shell of its former self. The next elder scrolls will probably suck

  4. NoStructure5034

Does BSG charge for mods? I’ve never really kept up with Starfield, but it’s insane if they’re charging for mods.

  5. BitingArtist

Mods aren’t free, creators make revenue on donations. The better question is should the game creator be entitled to a cut? Not sure.

  6. AHumpierRogue

Mods should always be passion projects or volunteer work. At most donations. Actually pay walling content is sick and against the spirit of modding.

  7. A_Hatless_Casual

Wasn’t this expected? At this point 3 things are all but guaranteed from Bethesda titles:

    1. the game will be buggy as all hell

    2. It will use the skyrim engine, it will show it through animations and be all the more exploitable for it since we know all the glitches and bugs

    3. Mods will cost real dollars, even if the game pretty much dies after about a month

  8. DaughterOfBhaal

… But Starfield has free mods? You’re advocating for something that’s always existed..

It’s the mod authors choice whether they want to paywall their mods or not, and it’s the consumers choice whether they want to buy them or not.

  9. AssCakesMcGee

Mods inherently suck. There’s no way around it.

  10. Captain-Griffen

    OP on Starfield:

    > I will not only not play the game, I will trash talk the game and studio every time it comes up.

Also has a shit ton of removed posts that had negative karma (which advocating for mods to be free doesn’t get you).

Yeah, wonder why they got banned…

  11. TesticleezzNuts

Mods are free. Creation club is paid and from what I’ve seen most of its not that good.

But that’s a shitty reason to get banned. Massive L from Starfield mods there.

  12. ObscuraGaming

That’s up for the modder, not the end user. If the modder wants to release a free mod they can just release it elsewhere like on Nexus. What’s the point here? “I want shit for free”?

  13. BlackFemLover

When you were promised a good time and then someone talks you into taking it in the ass, the last thing you want is to know that other people are getting more of what they want and won’t need to buy a donut pillow so they can sit down.

  14. SindriAndTheHeretics

Running to other subreddits crying, shitting, and pissing yourself because you caught a ban for a stupid post doesn’t make you look good.

  15. coyote_rx

It didn’t work for Fallout 4 before. Why would Bethesda think it will work for starfield now?

  16. Conscious_Candle2598

I find it even more hilarious how much corporations have an influence of control over Reddit in general.

  17. Okami-Sensha

I’ve started hating Bethy because of Prey 2. My hatred has since solidified due to how they treated Mick Gordon

  18. Odd-Zebra-5833

Any semi official sub for a game/service is fucking trash.

Tried asking for help and pointing out an error with Hulu and they wouldn’t approve my post. Cant have their shotty service looking bad I guess.

  19. OppositeOfIrony

Honestly though, we should try and support 3rd party mod developers (ie Patreon, Ko-fi, etc) and there should be some kind of revenue sharing model these between gaming companies and modders. Mods can remain free but the dedicated modders who are absolutely carrying those games on their shoulders need to eat.

  20. LordofSuns

Starfield stans are like that meme with the smiling mask hiding an ugly crying face beneath

  21. No reason to ban, but your post was stupid. Classic tiresome BG3 circlejerk not based on actual factual arguments. Starfield has a ridiculous amount of high quality free mods. Baldur’s Gate 3 getting mod support is great news for a already great game, but it does NOT have “higher quality mods and better mod support” than Starfield one day after release. Fuck no.

And now you come here karma farming with the same circlejerk.

  22. Artistic_Regard

Whoa, you can get banned from that Starfield sub? I say tons of dumb shit there and I still haven’t gotten banned lol.

  23. johnsolomon

    That’s pathetic

The sub mods were clearly intimidated by the idea of good mods

  24. Free? Shit, might as well buy Baldurs Gate 3 due to principal.

  25. ryan8954

This… This is making too much sense, how dare you.

  26. N7Mogrit

The fact you got banned for something that would benefit the Starfield community which is exactly what that subreddit stands for is fucking insane.

Mods should be free with a tip option. I can go and play fully made games that modders have put YEARS into and have released for free.

Why should I pay for a new skin? I won’t. I’d tip a little bit maybe, if the mod author was consistently good but otherwise… what’s the point lol.

    Tldr fuck paid mods.

Edit: creation club counts as paid mods imo.

None of it is fucking lore friendly and none of it is canon so why should I pay?

If it is miraculously now considered canon, why can some un-paid mod author fuck up Bethesda lore within a multi million dollar franchise?

  27. Aaravos13

Starfield sub is basically a bunch of yes men gaslighting themselves into believing the game is the best there is and Bethesda is always the greatest gaming company that can do no wrong.
You said something that would be actually helpful towards the industry, rather than just making more money for corrupt and greedy corporations, so of course they would ban you.

  28. allofdarknessin1

The actual Starfield and Bethesda mods are 100% free and superior to what the “mod” store in the game. Those are just officially supported mods that Bethesda took the time to review and Q/A test, but they’re never near the quality of actual mods from Nexusmods and other sources. Is this your first time modding a Bethesda game? It’s just an extra optional income for Bethesda. All mods players care about are all free.
Edit: before anyone replies, I just realized I’m not responding to the actual OP but it seems the person who posted shared the same opinion without any facts.

  29. What mods did you create ? I just want to see your free mods and know what you consider “quality” mods.

  30. Uncle_Tickle_Monster

I’m surprised now that Reddit is a stock company, that they still allow unpaid Mods to rule with an iron fist with no recourse for the OP or commenters. It’s one of the few things I hate about reddit. Like they want you to participate, thus creating content, but holy shit if you post something doesn’t agree with you’re out and you have no recourse. Drives me nuts.

  31. mincemuncher

There’s free mods on Nexus that are better than what Creation Club offers.

  32. LocustUprising

Free Starfield mods already exist. And they’re most likely better than ones made by Bethesda. I don’t understand

  33. youareabigdumbphuckr

r/Starfield is a fuckin circlejerk anyway. If you wanna watch a bunch of people lie to themselves really well, go on in there
