I’m kinda reminded of Einstein’s (?) quite where he says he doesn’t know what weapons WW3 will be fought with, but WW4 will be fought with sticks and stones. Between climate change, mass extinction, food scarcity, forced mass migration and inevitable resulting wars, 2077 may look really different.
I mean, look at the movies from 80s and 90s. By this time, we were supposed to have hoverboards and flying cars, or Skynet and terminators. We got neither. We got (the same) rich old white men being richer and older. So 2077 may well turn out to be largely the same.
We’re also doing nothing about climate, habitat destruction and species are going extinct at record speeds. Eventually some key species will finally die off, and the domino collapse will happen over a very short period, and that’ll be that. And then we’re looking at Mad Max, not Night City.
