Bro has the balls to say that with Bloodborne IP just sitting right there.

  2. CrimsonRocks2

Better get to remastering some more remasters

  5. For everyone saying “Sony has lots of IPs”:

    >*”According to him, whether it’s for games, films or anime, the entertainment giant doesn’t have much IP that it fostered from the beginning. He finds that Sony is lacking the “early phase” of IP, which has been an issue for the company.*
    >
    >*Totoki’s statement may seem odd at first, given PlayStation’s long list of IPs, he is referring to the company as a whole, which is involved in other mediums of entertainment, such as film and anime. However, he did single out games along with the other two mediums, likely due to the recent Concord debacle.*”

They have plenty of IP, they just refuse to use 75% of it

  7. Deimos_Aeternum

    Bullshit.

Twisted Metal, Sly Cooper, Killzone, Resistance, Bloodborne, SOCOM… they have a bunch of IPs just sitting idly and they are interested in soulless corporate slop.

  8. arielzao150

bullshit, where is Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale Ultimate? /s

everyone has already said everything so…

  9. Crimson_Aperture

I mean, I can sorta understand, though he’s presenting a rather head scratching mentality.

One, if he wants Playstation to be known for more than the console you buy for single player games. He’d be spot on in his assessment that Playstation lacks in this regard. Which would be the big reason why they acquired Bungie and Firewalk. But this starts to go down the road Xbox has been treading.

Two, he doesn’t see that the titles they offer have long term investments after a trilogy. Which is a toss up argument. For example, would someone really want 8 Horizon titles? Or would they rather have 8 new unique titles?

Like I said, this is a real head scratching statement for him to make.

Hmmmmmmmm. Maybe you dumbasses shouldn’t have canceled Factions for this shit.

  11. Matto_McFly_81

Didn’t Astro Bot, one of the year’s highest-rated games, come out today?

  12. RetroSwamp

Sony could do remasters for the next 10 years a get hella rich but ohh no…why right?

  13. AndForeverNow

Should had made Concord a better game.

  14. Jak and Daxter is the most abandoned IP for absolutely no reason.

At least Sly Cooper got an entry on the PS3. Jak and Daxter disappeared and didn’t even get a chance.

  15. RIPN1995

    SOCOM

    Siphon Filter

    Killzone

    Resistance

    The Order

Any game of these franchises brought back would be huge.

  16. woodzopwns

I find that most original IP nowadays are on the same par of writing as early 2010s Sonic the Hedgehog OC. In fact, there were many on YouTube that are probably better. The writers they hire are clearly lacking somewhere, there was no appeal to Concords aesthetic at all, nor the characters.

  17. eXclurel

They literally released a game today that shows all of their IPs. (Astro Bot)

  18. bucky_ballers

Guy who’s responsible says it can’t be helped and certainly not his fault. Who saw that coming.

  19. Grapes-RotMG

Guys, he’s talking about Sony as a whole, not just video games.

  20. BarackaFlockaFlame

a modern jak and daxter would be sick. I don’t want a remake, I want a reboot.

  21. smallcat123321

    Knack.

EDIT: Sorry, forgot Knack 2. Knack is back.

  22. WizardOfTheHobos

LITTLE BIG PLANET FAT PRINCESS PLSSS

  23. GamerLegend2

All they had to do is to remake Resistance, Killzone or SOCOM. Or atleast create a new IP that follow those game models instead of chasing Overwatch trends.

  24. No way.

I hardly noticed 27 remasters, 13 remasters of those remasters and 18 sequels.

  25. StrikingBobcat9

Prolly should just rererereremaster last of us again

  26. Ledbetter2

Last of Us Multi game was fucking cancelled and all i hear about for weeks is this fucking failure….

  27. thats1evildude

Why did you go all in on ~~David Pumpkins~~ Concord?

  28. Agent_69_420

Convinced no one in this thread even read the article before commenting lol

  29. Just hire me, I have some really good ideas trust me

  30. MarkusRight

These morons at the top pay absolutely no attention to what we’ve been screaming at them for years. How disconnected do you have to be to walk yourself into a 100+ million dollar loss when it could have easily been avoided.

We’ve wanted a sequel to Bloodborne and a PC port for years, hell they are sitting on a gold mine of old IP’s that they let sit dormant for no reason.

  31. confusedsquirrel

Just remaster killzone and infamous. You’ll be set for another 3 years on income.

  32. popmanbrad

Guys guys give them some slack there a very small indie studio that’s got barely any IPs

  33. Sony has been ignoring their fans for like 25 years now… this is just the FIRST time it’s come back to really bite them. It won’t be the last.

  34. TuecerPrime

This is an insane comment to make in terms of Playstation.

  35. old_and_boring_guy

Concord was just another hero shooter.

They have *ridiculous* amounts of money, and all they can do to be “original” is to jump on a trend and do it so absurdly poorly as to end up right at the bottom of the heap on day one?

You could take a tiny fraction of the money you wasted on that dog, and use it to try and do something new and fun with a modest budget that has room to *become* an Original IP that you’ll then destroy.

Big corps can’t think on a small scale. Everything is so bloated on the way out the door, it costs 50 times what it should, and is utterly generic.

  36. kmone1116

You can tell reading comprehension is an issue for many. He’s not saying they are lacking gaming IPs, he’s saying in all their fields (movies, tv and games) they don’t have many IPs they developed from the beginning of each branch.

  37. Portskerra

    Two points:

    (1) The article is authored by Muhammad Ali Bari, who has an insane number of burner accounts on Reddit promoting his writing

    (2) **Hiroki Totoki is talking about today**. Whether it’s anime, films or games, Sony’s chief financial officer believes they must be more invested creating original IP.
