In Zombies lore, it was on this day, September 6th, 79 years ago when a U.S. Marine Corps recon team comprised of Corporal “Tank” Dempsey, John “Banana”, “Smokey”, and Pvt. Paxton “Gunner” Ridge attempt to rescue OSS agent Peter McCain from the Wittenau Sanitorium in war-torn Berlin. The mission goes awry, the Marines are swarmed by the undead. Banana and Smokey are killed, Gunner escapes, and Tank is captured by Dr. Edward Richtofen. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Fun fact: I’m sure many of you know this already, but Wittenau Sanitorium is very much a real place that you can visit today. It’s pretty much derelict as you’d expect after over 80 years.

I went there recently, fought off 20 waves yet got arrested for “killing innocent civilians”. Bullshit. 0/10, mystery box pulls were ass as well.
