I absolutely love this game, but this shameless bit of not-very-subtle cross promotion cracks me up every time!

I mean, at least it’s not lying, illusion of Gaia is a banger.

I remember Megaman Legends having a few Resident Evil ads, including one in MML2 advertising “Resident Evil 43”.

Even the dev team thought they were pumping out too many by 2001.

DOS Shareware used to show pics and give order hotlines when you tried to close them.

  5. Robotrek! I had that, sold it recently for like 150. it got to me, here I am in the hacker base, wiping them out. I take out one, and before he dies he says “All I ever wanted to know was the love of a good woman.”

Damn I wish I could play Illusion of Gaia again. Never did beat it

  7. Konami did the same thing with a few of their titles on the NES and SNES. So did Tecmo famously.

What’s nice about this is that if you’re playing a game with an ad in it for another game, you’re most likely the target audience for the ad and it’s helpful. I hate getting random ads that have nothing to do with me. The spray and pray approach of modern ads just grind me down.

Robotrek was an absolutely solid game. Thanks for the reminder!
