I just want to say this that I’ve been playing zombies since 2010 when I was a kid.
My friend recommended me playing zombies for black ops 1
And I got to say I like the map designs
But I didn’t really like the game in general…
Starring pistols: I’ll be honest I never like the fact that u start with starting pistols to this day. I still think that’s lame but that’s just me. 🤷🏾♂️
And I get the argument is “that’s what makes zombies challenging.” I would agree with some people but after BO3 in the introduction of the gobble gums, I think that argument is weak.
I’m happy that in Cold War and onwards at least u start with different weapons prefer the freedom of giving any kind of weapons to start with.
4 limits perks: I dislike this design. I think it’s pretty bad imo i’m happy this was technically improved in BO3 plus CW to get all perks
I shouldn’t get down just to get different perks but I’m happy for the unlimited perks improvement.
The COD zombies songs: I dislike them. I’m not really a metal fan and I never will be. I think Metal is garbage 🗑️
I am more of a hip hop, kind of guy early 90s and 2000s hip-hop songs but i’m happy some people like them that I don’t.
I like the old style of zombies, but it is pretty flawed imo I got to give Treyarch props. I’m happy that they are evolving and not just going backwards
Each games
Edit: I didn’t mention story because I’ll be honest with y’all. I don’t keep up with the story. It’s kind of hard to follow to me.
I mainly just do the Easter eggs and that’s it but I do know the characters
I just don’t mainly pay attention to the story that they’re going but I will for BO6 😁👌🏾

The lack of free perk gimmics in BO3 seperate from gobblegum. BO1 & BO2 had awesome ways to get other perks (Shangri-La & Ascension monkeys, George Romero, Buried witches, Jumping Jacks). Mob Of The Dead has no free perk easter egg and that blows my mind. BO4 had some but nothing like BO1/BO2. Cold War kinda fixed all of that. We only got Widows Wine in all of BO3 and we used to get almost a new perk every map and it would be map exclusive. Also, PhD Flopper on Origins and not any other BO2 Map (besides that other MOTD mode) is a troll.
WaW – Knifing and magnet zombies
BO1 – Thundergun glitch and weak weapons
BO2 – Poor map design (mostly Tranzit and Die Rise)
BO3 – OP gobblegums
WW2 – Armor system
BO4 – Perk system, HUD and having to PaP half a dozen times
BOCW – Armor system, poor art direction (DM & FZ)
I haven’t played MWZ, played IW for 1 hour and didn’t play Exo zombies either.
Too cryptic. Not always for me, but for my core group of friends that enjoyed zombies from WaW on.
Would always lose one or two people each year due to complexity of the mode increasing. BO2 was a drop off for most of them, but BO3 zombie chronicles brought them back and now that’s the golden standard for couch co-op.
Just a disclaimer that I like all the zombies games.
Waw- A bit difficult to comeback to nowadays. The mystery box is a bit too weak. Very buggy.
Bo1- Visually my least favorite. So much of bo1 is just really grey. Mystery box is still a bit too weak (better than waw tho).
Bo2- Victus are uninteresting. The quality of bo2 is just all over the place. The new modes they added feel half-assed.
Bo3- Mystery box is too strong. This is when weapons in zombies stopped being interesting imo. That’s honestly all I’ve got for bo3.
Bo4- Basically every change they made is for the worse. Way too many special zombies. Aether maps are significantly worse than chaos. Maps are generally held back by being in bo4. They would be better in any other game.
CW- Opposite problem of bo4. I really like most of the changes, but the map quality is what holds this game back (other than Mauer which is fire). Zombies generally lost some of its soul in CW. Story is a bit less interesting personally.
WAW: Easily some of the glitches, although most are resolved in later titles and this was the first Zombies title so it can get excused.
Black Ops 1: The Monkey rounds in Ascension. Personally, as someone who likes to play solo, I never enjoyed these rounds and having to run to protect quick revive or jug while all your other perks get stolen is more frustrating than anything.
Black Ops 2: The difficulty settings for local/private games. I never understood or really felt any real difference between the difficulties (easy and normal) so the feature just felt kinda pointless.
Black Ops 3: Dr. Monty’s Factory. I know this is when COD was in the loot box era, but for those who could not pay for liquid divinium, grinding for liquid divinium was tedious and annoying, especially later if you wanted to grind the calling cards and had to rely on rng to get burned out or phoniex up, only to have your chances for them dwindle as more gobblegum got added.
Black Ops 4: Adding weapons to the mystery box. I strongly believe Treyarch shouldn’t have kept adding more and more weapons into the mystery box, and should’ve just kept what they did for black ops 3 and only had map specific weapons like the Marshalls on Zets. All this did was hurt box RNG.
Cold War: Salvage (scorestreaks and rarities). I was going to say loadouts originally, but I started to grind for the Dark Aether camo and found the feature extremely useful, but I hate the salvage mechanics. I get you need to upgrade your guns and many people like being able to buy the death machine, but I always found this feature to take away some of the “survivor” feel to zombies and you never felt truly alone. Also, the weapon rarities are just annoying as it made the mystery box more useless and always made me angry when you had just a little bit less salvage then you needed and accidentally spend it on a revive or the wrong weapon.
MWZ: mercenaries. I get for story purposes and what not they have to be there, but I always found them annoying to fight and are partially the reason why I stopped doing the MWZ missions.
The weapons being weak on bo1 is one thing . The Low ammo supply on them as well fucks them over even harder .
WAW – Zombies Physics (they feel like they literally grab you) and inconsistencies in how the game works across different dlc maps (jug in verruckt vs der riese, waffe jug glitch in der riese, etc)
BO1 – Probably just that the early rounds take forever at times. I’m not an easter egg grinder, so the lack of full easter eggs doesn’t bother me.
BO2 – The lack of proper PHD Flopper on all of the Victis maps where it would’ve been most useful and i guess how finnicky some of the perma perks are to get and keep.
BO3 – Probably just the fact that Widows Wine can be a little OP at times. If they could swap Widows Wine for Winters Wail, I think the argument that BO3 was too easy would be greatly reduced.
BO4 – oh man, this one has problems, but going back to it now, it isn’t as bad as people made it out to be. The general vibe is that they nerfed the player a lot and tried to make a lot of changes were things weren’t broken before and in turn created some worse problems. Good examples are: points system nerf was terrible, especially when the price of everything is so expensive now, so players feel it twice as much. Double tap replacement with 5x PAP was stupid, Speed Cola Modifier is too unnoticeable. Most guns, even the wonder weapons, just plain suck in this game except the ARs, your specialist, and wraith fires.
CW – I got a bit to say about this too. Mechanically, a big step up from BO4’s mess. But there is no real clear vision/theme to any of the maps. It doesn’t have to be fantasy based like Blundell zombies was, but the previous zombies development heads had a clear vision for their map design philosophy. The cool thing about Zielinski’s maps were that they had some mystery, horror aspects to it. Blundell’s maps had that quest/adventure and fantasy aspect to them. Kevin Drew’s maps are solid and play fine, but they all feel like the same map over and over again besides Die Maschine (which was a reimagining). Combine that with monotonous and easy gameplay due to all the resources you have at your disposal on the map and suddenly zombies feels more like a military mission than having to defend yourself, which is getting away from what the mode is all about — spawning in weak and becoming strong. Not starting strong already, because otherwise what is the point of doing all the side quests to unlock all the other stuff. All of this makes for weak replayability value other than camos and things other than the actual gameplay.
Black ops 1 guns feel terribly underpowered and ammo is starved. I love the selection of guns in black ops 2 and how you can get really bad guns or really amazing ones from the box. Mob of the dead needs a better perk selection. The robots in origins are annoying. Perma perks are dumb. I hate BO3 3 hit downs and I also hate gobblegums. I hate everybting about every game after bo3 and I’m iffy on bo3
WaW: Knifing
BO1: Weak weapons / 4-players required for the easter eggs
BO2: Tranzit / 4-players required for (most) the easter eggs
BO3: Some gobblegums make it too easy but you dont actually have to use em / SoE easter egg requires 4-players
IW: Too many power switches
WW2: Armor system
BO4: Perk system
Cold war: Hud / Armor system / Atmosphere
Vanguard: Lack of content
MWZ: Lack of content / Atmosphere
WAW:
The “hugging” system with the zombies
B01-Buried+Shadows: Non-Solo EE.
Technically you can finish the EE on shadows solo, but you won’t get the cutscene. COTD and Origins are the only 2 maps in this group that you can SOLO the EE quest (if I’m correct)
B01: Low Ammo Weapons.
Self explanatory
B02: Janky Rank system and Janky Perma-Perks.
Perma-Perks were cool, but some of them had really werid condition and would randomly deactivate sometimes (Perma PHD, Red Insta, Metal Barriers)
B03: Mega Gobblegums.
Don’t like how broken they can be. Usually run the free ones
IW: No Camo grind like in BO3 and later in BO4.
All camps are unlocked immediately for you, and all you can do is level up guns (which is a great idea and I think the first game to allow leveling in both modes)
B04: Perk system
While I kind of like how they implemented the perks to add variety. I think it would have been better to just add more perk slots rather than capping at 4 still. IWZ had a 5 perk slot by this time
CW: Broken intel drops and crystal grind was too short… Maybe maps needed more Zombies “Vibes” to them
MWZ: lots of small things that could have made it great, but Randomized and Timegated Schemeatics
The contrast between Cold War and every game after it to Every game before is insane.
Someone ban this guy from the feed this has to be rage bait or this dude is 14
When they remade the maps they didn’t care to add Easter eggs or expand on them (WaW maps) this was in the peak time EE hunting they had the old crews going through time and realities they went to the old maps give us a reason why they were there. Shit I would of been happy with Nacht just being oops wrong spot we need to build a teleporter to get out of here
