TL;DR: Black Ops 6 HUD could be very customizable. See below for details.
This should be a comprehensive thread on one of the most recent findings from the Black Ops 6 beta. Essentially, as the title says, a HUD editor could be making its way to BO6 at some point (can't confirm specifically because this is all subject to change).
To start with, the original tweet of the finding (video footage has been copyright-struck): https://x.com/JaxonKEKW/status/1831263501068677319 (all credits go to JaxonKEKW for the findings)
A blurry screenshot here so you can visualize it better:
Based on the video at the time it was available, the HUD editor is a widget that looks similar to Theater Mode's widget. You can swap the basic layout of the HUD which corresponds to the presets that are available in the game, and also the "theme" (which is just a color swap for the HUD elements). From there, you can adjust the HUD elements further, by modifying the size, opacity and position of each individual element, so you don't have to stick to any chosen preset. In other words, you can create your custom HUD layout, and save them.
Now what should be interesting for Zombies players is listed here: https://x.com/JaxonKEKW/status/1831358845849043157
Included here is a list of all toggle-able HUD elements. The ones that stand out are the ones starting with the ZM prefix (Treyarch's abbreviation for Zombies Mode):
ZMQuestTrackerWrapper (Quest objective?)
ZMTrialsTrackerWrapper (Trials challenge tracker?)
ZMQuestSplashWrapper (pop-up notification for Quest objectives?)
ZMPowerUpSplashWrapper (pop-up for when you get a power-up?)
ZMDialogueSpeaker (icon for radio handlers?)
ZMAmmoCounterPanelWrapper (self-explanatory)
ZMTrialsSplashWrapper (pop-up for Trials challenge completion?)
ZMSquadVoteWidgetWrapper (for prompts that require all players' inputs like Rampage Inducer activation)
All HUD presets come with specific adjustments for the ZM HUD elements, among others, so there is at least going to be one preset where one or more of the aforementioned HUD elements are disabled (maybe the Immersive/Hardcore preset). And as mentioned earlier, you can save your modifications, so it does seem like this feature is intended for the end users, and not just for devs internally.
This isn't going to address the complaints regarding the unique HUD designs, but if you, say, want a more immersive/minimalist HUD style without completely hiding everything, you can. Want to hide Peck's face while you're doing the main quest as he talks to you? That's likely now. Want to hide everything but keep challenge notifications active? That's doable too.

There’s no way they wouldn’t have marketed the hell out of this if it was coming
Time to workshop a nasty-ass Sonic Generations-looking HUD.
Even if this happens there’s still a creative difference between us making our own HUD for zombies in general and each map having a unique tailored HUD made specifically for that map.
Good step in the right direction, hopefully they can give us alternate UI elements in the future as well that are Zombies specific.
This + the rumored classic mode? We’re so back

All this is is being able to turn off all the unnecessary bloat.
I can guarantee you that a lot of people here and at Treyarch will use this as a justification as to why zombies can’t have a unique HUD. I’d rather a unique HUD that I can’t customize than a shit one I just turn off.
