It’s only to be expected. Maybe devs should focus on making good games people want to play first and foremost.

Damn, not even two weeks. I think Suicide Squad stumbled better!

Can the AAA game industry go back doing single player games again?
CoG_Brotato
The way this unfolded needs to be studied cause every single decision leading up to this point has been odd. So many questions as to why Concord was greenlit in this state, why the $40 price tag *exists*, why 8 years went into a project with no spirit.
If it was F2P, would it have made it better? Probably not. But it’s a damn shame their efforts were wasted on a project that would be DOA upon release.
TheDevil_Wears_Pasta
Deadlock is fun as fuck though.

We’re not saying we told you so, but we told you so. Literally everyone saw this coming. Concord was never going to attract a large playerbase. But hey, guess our input never mattered, we’re all “talentless freaks”.

Has any game shut down and offered full refunds before? I know a few that have given in with generous refund terms e.g. CP2077. This kind of drastic action must be a first.
SwiftCase
The writing was on the wall before it released, I don’t if it was stupidity, ignorance, or arrogance that they released it anyway.

Oh no … anyway

I hope they cancel all the other live service games NOBODY asked for after this blunder. They cancelled Factions but released this 😂
malibujukebox
Probably the best decision, given the circumstances.
JamesEvanBond
Killzone or Resistance would have sold so much better than this. Hopefully this is a wake up call for Sony.

Has anything like this happened in gaming or anything like this before? This is insane.

Man, Concord, really speeding running server shut down any %.
Reapellaino2011
Now, the episode Concord from the animated series “Secret Levels” will feel a bit strange

This is the type of game that reddit clamors for and never buys

You know, when I look at this game, it doesn’t look “bad”, it looks rather unappealing, underwhelming and not that interesting.
I am not hating, I just wonder to myself, why is it so lately that games struggle to have repeatable, fun, addicting gameplay? When I played Battlefield 3, MW2, Black Ops like 15+ years ago, it was just pure fun, whether it was the scale of Battlefield or the Adernaline of CoD, you could literally play 5 hours everyday. The multiplayer didn’t have battlepass, they only had maps and levels to progress and unlock weapons, which were enough.
For Overwatch it was a bit different but I was hooked as well, the game doesn’t have progression, but it was so competitive and fun to get better at. (until they ruined the game with OW2)
But hey even single players, like souls-like games, can be insanely fun to play over and over, even after the game is finished.
Where I go to is: games used to have core strong, addicting, repeatable gameplay. I don’t know about game designs, but to me it feels like they were designed from the very beginning this way, rather being played “over a period of time”.
Now I look at the recent game from Valve which I got addicted to watch. I never played a MOBA in my life, and yet this game says to me that it will be a massive success that you could play hours a day.
With such an overcrowded market, you have literally dozens or hundreds of game that are released every day, I wonder why games can’t keep sticking. What Concord missing? I know the price is one obstacle, but I can already tell even it goes F2P it would be a failure, so price alone is not a factor.

I have a feeling they are going to reel back, apply some major changes and re release as F2P. The game doesn’t seem THAT bad that it deserves to just not exist already.
Doomchan
How the hell is this happening? The Concord subreddit told me the game was doing amazing
TesticleezzNuts
Fucking hell even Liz Truss lasted longer than this and she got beat by a fucking lettuce.

Hopefully this game is the necessary sacrifice for companies to stop going all in on live service games. Sony’s best games have little or no multiplayer.
charizard732
I had never heard of the game until news came out that no one was playing it. So, it sounds like a marketing failure of a bad game
Meme_Pope
They need to throw out all the character designs and have some make some new ones that people can make porn of. Then release it free to play.

Shutdown in less than a week, this is crazy
Full refunds btw.
Edit: No longer available for purchase

At this point I’m almost afraid to ask but…
What is Concorde..?
