It’s easier to take a picture on your phone and post it to social media instantly rather than wait through the upload/fetch/download process.
If you’re on PC I don’t have an explanation though.

Have you ever seen that picture of the guy in the backwards baseball cap holding his hand up to shade his eyes from the sun? *IMMEDIATELY* to the right of the F12 button, **clearly visible in the pciture** is the “print screen” button, which keyboards have had since before I was born.
I mean… I don’t play online ever so it would take me a bit to figure out how to get the screenshot sent to my phone where I would want to post to social media. God dammit I felt so freaking old typing that out
I can understand that with old games that did not have support for this type of thing it is done, or to make leaks, but to show something funny or ask for advice today I see it as a disastrous practice.
They do it because it’s easier. Just like how it was easier for you to do this cheap cropping/editing job instead of making it look nicer.
It’s a trade for speed and convenience. And they are trading the enjoyment of the viewer. Like you did.

The issue is not that the issue is you need to post then share a link is require more min to do it , then you had your phone take picture post in Less than 3 seg
A lot of people do it because they’ve been playing since the 2000s or earlier and that was the only way to do it back then. Habits are habits.
Just FYI, you can change the Print Screen key to open the Snipping Tool to take precise screenshots and easily copy and paste the results to Discord or wherever.
It’s in the Keyboard Accessibility Settings.
You can’t move a screenshot to another device easy. I want it to end up in reddit/discord/whatsapp. But for TV/movies, screenshots get blocked. Even if you can take one, it’s super hard to get it onto your PC, it’s not that it would just appear on my camera roll. It’s sad that devices don’t interface better

I just assumed people do it because consoles don’t do screen shots but I learned something today! in my defense pc is my only modern console. I assumed the people with the high quality screen shots where using capture cards.
Because PlayStation makes it actual hell to get any of those screenshots to anything except your PlayStation. We act like we’re still in the 2000s because that’s objectively the easier way to do it

If i take a screenshot on switch i have to upload it to X first.
If I take a screenshot on my steamdeck i dont seem to have any way to access it from my pc account.

On Xbox, you can only screenshot games, so when people are sharing game lists ect, they have to use their phone to take a photo.
some people are too lazy or impatient to wait a couple minutes for a screenshot to upload
For consoles, it could just be that taking a pic with the phone makes it easier to share than going through the process of getting the screenshot from the console, especially if said console doesn’t have a browser and/or doesn’t support whatever site/app you’re going to send the pic/ screenshot.
On computer however, snipping tool keybound to print screen is a godsend. I feel like it should be widely known, but [I may be acting out this XKCD comic](https://xkcd.com/2501/).

Its literally not as bad as ppl bitch about, only when the pic/video IS in fact showing everything but what it was supposed to be showing, then yeah, otherwise, its easier to upload from straight from my phone than having to do the xbox stuff.
The buttons are there but it’s quicker to just take the picture from your phone

I don’t really understand the issue with people taking photos. If it’s taken half decent you still get all the information. Depending on how you download the photo a screenshot could even look worse.
