Use needle nose pliers to get it into the right spot
Haven’t done a tighter build in a while, but I typically use a low-profile USB header extension to make my life easier.
damn whoever thought it was ok to design the usb3.0 connector this way. And with such thick cables too.
broke the pin on my msi b450 tomahawk. now i live without front pnl usb.
As long as you are still looking at the plug and not a back side of a ripped socket you are good to go.
It sometimes helps to use a M – F 90 deg adapter. Nothing can make up for the stiffness of the cable, though.

Yeah that cable is a nightmare
I had a realisation a few years ago: most people dont even use the front panel connectors in the first place.
If you know you wont need em, just dont plug em in put them where noone sees them and you are fine.
I once pulled the entire port with the cable when changing motherboards
On the flip side, usb 3.1 header is an absolute joy. More connectors like that, please.
