For a “gamer first” CEO this dude does not know the industry well at all. So many bad decisions by this dude

They really pushin this exclusivity is bad agenda cuz they havent had a worthwhile exclusive since the 360 days lol

This man has overstayed his welcome. He’s gotta know where the bodies are buried or something

How does he still have a job?

Phil needs to retire.
Edit: He’s a nice guy, and it’s not like he’s bad at his job, but he’s a nice guy, and it’s not like he’s bad at his job.

Dude came in and said “gaming is for everyone” and people hated that. He wants everyone to enjoy game nothing wrong with it but people need something to bitch about so here we are.

lol at these comments if he went against his principles people would be hating on the guy and the xbox brand for exclusivity because Microsoft can toss money at whatever they want

I don’t think signing Destiny is worth it

as an avid D1 player vanilla D1 was pretty meh. i can understand the pass. overall i can see the how in the long run it would have been better

Those would have both been “game over I’m rolling with Xbox” type exclusives for me personally lol. Probably my two favorites games, ever.

Gamers hate themselves and these comments show it.

As someone who has been primarily an Xbox guy since Halo, and now plays a handheld PC in addition, I love the game anywhere mentality thsy he’s pushed. I love cross-platform saves. He hasn’t always made the right call, but I like the trajectory.

For the best really. But he’s really been terrible in his new role.

I’m always fascinated by this kinda insight in terms of gaming history. For example: Microsoft and Sony were pitched what would’ve been the wiimotes before Nintendo. Both turned it down.
Odds are guitar hero and destiny would’ve been successful as Microsoft exclusives, but probably would’ve never reached the same heights without being multiplatform.
Due to Activision and Bobby Kotick’s molesting ways, Harmonix left to create Rock Band. I’d argue that’s a bigger win than the alternative timeline.
We also got those DS and PSP guitar hero / Rock band ports and I’d never wanna give up those bizzare nuggets.

Honestly? Good. Fuck third party exclusives. They shouldn’t exist, and while that belief is almost certainly not why he made the decision, I’ll give him credit for doing it nonetheless. Third party exclusives are one of the worst things in the industry and I’m always glad to see one of the big three turn them down, even if not for that reason.
And to be fair, with when he would have been making the call, I think GH Live was the only one to come out after that, so not putting the MS stamp on that garbage is probably a big net positive.
