Bought an OLED monitor today (first time ever using an OLED screen) and there are these two little brighter spots that keep catching my eye… is this (relatively) normal or a defect I could expect to get a replacement for?

I live in Australia so I imagine this would count as a minor failure under Australian Consumer Law, but in general is this something I should take back to the retailer and ask for a replacement?

Defective probably at the manufacturing stage and not noticed by quality control i would go down the warranty route

That’s not normal on a brand new device. Return it

That usually means they fucked up the whole “Putting the parts in the right spot” when they built it. Those are from some kind of pressure being applied to the screen from the inside.

I would 100% return that monitor. It will only get worse over time. Unacceptable.

It’s definitely damaged. Return it as soon as you can.

Don’t bother with a warranty claim this early. Just return it and order another monitor.

Return it where you bought it from, do not use the manufacturer warranty.

OLED is too expensive to let that slide.

Return it. Where you bought it from?

If you ever buy a product that is damaged it’s an immediate return. Easy.

Why would you keep it unless you needed something in the moment for school, work, etc..?

I was reading the manual of the OLED Alienware I just got and it legit said this can happen during manufacturing but it won’t affect performance or whatever and I was like bruh pre-empting bullshit in your manual doesn’t make me want to just accept defective products

Did it go through a delivery process to get to you or did you go to a place to buy it?

Thank you everyone, I’ll take it back tomorrow and see how the retailer handles it.
As mentioned in post this is likely a minor failure under Australian law so they get to decide how this is resolved (repair, replacement, refund).

Must admit I’m rather underwhelmed by the switch to OLED/1440p/240Hz, so I would rather getting a refund. They only restocked this monitor yesterday and my purchase was the last one in stock, so even getting a replacement could be a long process.

That doesn’t look like an oled at all. Did you get scammed?

Of course it’s not acceptable. Or was your plan to buy a faulty product?

  15. Kinda looks like residues from adhesives. It may sound obvious but did you try to wipe it off with a cotton cloth and some water? Or could it be that the removable plastic layer is still on?

Get your refund now, don’t wait!
