Maybe pcie slot damaged, place the card in one of the lower 8x slots.

I was once stuck on 1024×768.
After a couple of hours, I had to find out that there is a bios setting that resets the settings to defaults.

welp, that’s a motherboard issue most likely… the most pain-in-the-ass place to have an issue.

Pull CMOS for a little bit. The PC may take longer to boot for the first time with the new card.

happened to me before on a new system… it was my dumb samsung monitor not turning on with the new card when it is booting; but once drivers installed and it boots in the system, monitor finally light up. but when i upgraded the monitor, it could actually display stuff with my new card without drivers normally.

This happened to me once. After I sell my GPU it’ll took couple days new one arrive so I plugged an ancient GPU for at least being able to browsing. However my BIOS changed itself to Legacy from UEFI automaticly when I put ancient one, so when my new GPU arrived doesn’t matter what I did it was black screen. Fans were spinning, PC light were on but no screen, also no lights on keyboard and mouse. I tried reset BIOS but I guess I failed so nothing changed. However I put my ancient GPU, changed BIOS to UEFI from Legacy, saved and shut down PC before it restart. I plugged my new GPU and started without any problem. Probably BIOS reset would fix this issue but if happen to you, better check if its EUFI or Legacy.
