So they made $1,000,000 which is less than 1% of it’s budget lol

  2. JillValentine69X

Ooof. Maybe Sony will stop with the BS and go back to Single Player games. Maybe they can also stop with the PSN requirements for their games on PC

  3. Jepington

That’s because the game caters to no one, and no one likes playing ugly characters lmao.

  4. Nisekoi_

We needed this to demonstrate to investors that live service games aren’t the future. Only a limited number of such games can succeed at any given time.

  5. CrimsonRocks2

Under 60 players at one point now. You can’t even get a match.

  6. heroism777

Maybe it’s because it looks exactly like overwatch….. and everybody is sick of overwatch clones… and the original as well.

Haven’t read the article but I’m guessing:

    – Oversaturated market
    – The very nature of the market means players picked their game to invest in years ago
    – No USP
    – Console exclusivity
    – Market has long since gone F2P
    – Badly marketed
    – No stand out cast members

    Let me guess.

    $40

Zero marketing (like, seriously, I saw NOTHING and had never even heard of this game until like a day before release because people were being caught playing a beta or something and then all of a sudden the flood gates opened)

    Live service

    And bad character designs?

In isolation, it’s one of the best examples to use to demonstrate why you don’t make a product for an audience that DOES NOT EXIST in reality.

  10. Alankar_Gold

I would rather invest 50 million dollars in 100 good quality indie games, than 1 single live service corporate money-grab.

  11. lovely_sombrero

The first time when I heard about this game is when I saw one of the “Concord is not selling well” articles.

  12. AshenRathian

The only character that ever interested me in Concord was the guy with the revolver, and that was only cuz he plays like McCree from Overwatch and/or Androxus from Paladins.

I love revolvers if you can’t tell.

Honestly though, the very definition of this game is “inoffensive, uninteresting, and devoid of any nuance or creative integrity whatsoever”. I can’t imagine a game more milquetoast than this. It looks like one of those chinese mobile rip offs you’d see on the play store, except this charges an entry fee and is funded by a Triple A company called Sony, one of the Big Three in console mamufacturing.

This is unironically a travesty that this even exists, much less was funded by Sony of all companies. I expected this more from Ubisoft.

Stop lying IGN, a 7/10 at IGN means it’s bad, and a 6/10 means it’s unplayable.

  14. It failed as soon as it was unveiled. People thought we were getting a story driven, bounty hunter game, but we got a live-service, team-based, hero-shooter

Overwatch has already cornered the market for console
Valorant has PC down, and is trying to breach console
Marvel still hasn’t released, but might help give OW2 some competition
Concord doesn’t have… anything. OW2 has a neat artstyle and a solid chunk of characters already free to play, Valorant is heavily competitive, and Marvel has licensed characters. no shit concord isn’t winning that bout.

  15. itsmehonest

I didn’t even know that it existed until people were laughing at the player count.. I feel like advertising wasn’t the best? Lol

  16. YukYukas

    lessons to be learned:

    * don’t release a game with barely any marketing less than 2 weeks after one of the most awaited ones
    * don’t restrict psn for 100+ countries
    * don’t design bad characters
    * don’t chase fortnite money

  17. Shinitai-dono

Don’t region lock a multiplayer live-service game next time Sony.

  18. TonberryFeye

Notice how they choose not to acknowledge the absolutely fucking attrocious character designs…

  19. TGB_Skeletor

deserved, maybe they’ll develop a real game with interesting gameplay next time

  20. CertainlyAmbivalent

I saw a reveal they did I think last month or the month before and they clearly put a lot of hard work into this game and had high hopes. But it looked so generic. They went hard into trying to duplicate the dynamic between the characters of Guardians of the Galaxy so it came off as contrived.

It sucks for the people who labored over this but man it was doomed from the start.

And I’m sure they knew when reactions to the reveal started to come in. I can’t imagine how it feels to know something you worked so hard on for years is going to utterly fail.

  21. RightfulChaos

I didn’t even know this game existed until after it came out, and everyone started talking about its terrible performance.

  22. DadOnHardDifficulty

Sounds like a big tax write-off for the corpos to me.

  23. AidilAfham42

You don’t need an analyst to tell you that it looks like a boring expensive product

  24. WATTHEBALL

Another fucking cookie cutter game. Christ almighty can we just get rid of the internet. Everyone has to jump on a fucking bandwagon and create the exact same game in a sea of copy and pastes.

Gaming version of super hero movies oversaturation. Reap what you sow.

  25. theonlywaye

Overwatch survives by the amount of porn made for it. Can’t say anyone’s going to be making porn based on Concord characters…

  26. PremiumMcMemeium

We’re just gonna tiptoe around mentioning the god awful character designs huh?

  27. kimisawa1

With the first day less than 700 players on Steam, it’s impossible it had sold 10000 copies. Top 2000 copies.

  28. SomeCoolCleverName

I imagine that Sony employees were forced to buy 23,000 copies to inflate numbers

  29. vladigal2

I Thought this was a joke game when it was announced. It’s not a joke game.

  30. HollowDanO

So many problems with this launch. Marketing is one of them, I had heard nothing about this game until a couple weeks before launch and only on PlayStation as a background advertisement. Then the fact there are so many nearly identical games. I don’t think you’re going to bring in players that don’t play the genre regularly and it’s difficult to bring over players that have invested time and money into other games of the same genre. The unappealing character designs also seem to be a thorn in the side of gamers. It seems it was doomed to the dustbin of failed franchises from which few return.

  31. Rockyrock1221

This game made me a believer in the SONY bias in games media conspiracy.

Ive never played the game personally but the amount of articles I’ve seen from game journos trying to salvage the PR for this game is INSANE.

If it was a Xbox/MS game there would be nothing but memes and ridicule about how bad and out of touch MS has been.

And I don’t say this as some console war person. I’m happy on PC, and can play pretty much anything I want. I just find something so off about this lol

  32. LaserGadgets

Its just another hero shooter, I don’t really need an analyst for this.

  33. One thing that I think a lot of people have ignored is just how much the PSN-linking controversy with Helldivers 2 fucked Sony among PC players. Most countries get locked out from playing the game at all, and PC gamers are extremely leery about any Sony game now because they don’t want to have to give them their personal info. Helldivers 2 holds on in spite of it, but Concord was already a tough sell between the price point and general fatigue over hero shooters and MCU-style humour. Add in the distaste over the PSN thing and I think that the PC market is just going to be difficult for Sony until they actually sort this shit out in a more consumer-friendly manner.
