Depends on where your idle temps generally are. My curve is similar but slightly more curvy. Also, so you don’t murder your fans, set your hysteresis to at least 3°

Nah, you can do what you want. Mine is setup to provide an audible reminder that it’s getting too warm.
No fan below 30C so the line starts vertical.
Then a line from 30% at 30C fans to 70% at 70C
Then a vertical line at 70C to 90%
Then a line to 100% at 80C.
Like this, when it hits 70C the fan speed will bump up for a second, so I will know, and I can adjust settings.

That’s about what I use only I start at 36 instead of 40 and too out at 80%. I add a point at 40c to go 60% then taper like yours. I honestly have never hit the 40c mark so I have no idea if the slope is effective. At 36c my fans go 60% then flat to 40c and a slope after that . 2 420mm rads are enough that I’ve never seen above 36-37c
I use a similar setting but slide max over a bit further so it doesn’t hit 100% until 80 degrees since my CPU isn’t going to thermal throttle below that temp.

I have a similar curve in my system and I never hear my pc. Both cpu and gpu are almost always under 60 degrees and silent.

I mean if it works for you then have at it. Personally I never let my fans get to 100% speed. I’m kinda picky about noise, so I don’t ever want to hear my computer

10 degrees up from there.
Once at 60-70C then Increase the slope and max it out at 80-90C.
Normally never going past 60+70C.
So I know if I can suddenly hear my fans something is going wrong.

If 100% isn’t annoying, not really.
I use 35% then at 65C ramps up to 65%.
I much prefer having 2 fan steps.
