The yen has weakened against the dollar in recent years, which affects businesses in Japan

Pretty messed up to treat your home country’s consumers (yes I know PlayStation is guided by Sony of America but still) like this when they’re not in the middle of some boom economy!

> The price hike is a result of “recent challenging external environment, including the current fluctuations in the global economic situation, and the impact it will have on our business,” Sony said.
Seems like they undershot their sales targets and now the consumer is paying for it.

It depends on the country’s currency VS the US dollar.
In Egypt, $1 was 15 pounds and PS5 cost 15k pounds. Now $1 is 50 pounds and the PS5 costs 35k~50k pounds.

Id imagine it has something to do with their currency being actively traded against
Gee, if there was a defining reason for the drop in sales.
I swear, the executives at Sony get more stupid by the damn minute.
Shit like this is exactly how the company lost their electronics lead to companies like LG and Samsung.

For some reason, it seems that this is incredible but true. That’s all for now.

Dear Stans, I too own several PlayStation consoles, that doesn’t mean I have to carry water for them. It doesn’t have to be a core part of your personality to reflexively defend a company that doesn’t give a shit about you.

The yen really is on the ropes.

Weird right? Right before the PS5 Pro?
Will the PS5 Pro replace the PS5 with the same price point? I can’t see another reason to increase the pricing now.
