How do you think CDPR will account for all of the different choices and endings in the sequel? Me personally, I think they are going to go the Witcher 3 route of simulating the witcher 2 save.

Probably just only vaguely allude to them. In the grand scheme of things, I doubt much will change. Night City will still be a corporate battleground between Militech and Arasaka and the streets will still just be nobodies shooting nobodies.

the devil ending (saburo leading arasaka inside yorinobu body) is just too difficult to carry on for the continuity… I think, no matter if V picked the PL endings or one of other main game endings, by 2079 arasaka is just fucked up in NC. Considering DLC director is directing sequel too, I think this is going to be the general context if the sequel is set post 2077

    Why continue V’s story?
I’d honestly would love to see them explore a different story. As far as I understand the only canon thing they’d need to worry about if it takes places later than 2077 is what happens with arasaka as the different ending have a direct impact on them.

They could also go for something much later than 2077 where V’s story is more of a legend. That way they could keep things vague like they did with Johnny where nobody exactly remembers or is willing to tell what happend.

Or they could even go a whole different route where V’s story never happend. It was just an elaborate xbd or simulation. That would open up a bunch of possibilities as well.

Regardless, the Cyberpunk universe they created based on the work of Mike Pondsmith is huge and there is a literal fuck ton they could do with it.

Why do so many people (at least from the amount of these post we get) think the next game will carry on from the previous?

It honestly doesn’t make any sense to me. CP77 is a complete story, and I think trying to tell more story for V would undermine the whole purpose of 77.

The only thing I can think of is that I have a very different interpretation of 77’s story then the people who want a continuation.

As to your question, I fully believe they won’t account for the choices, and the events of 77, if the next game is even a sequel, will be left ambiguous so they don’t take away those choices.

I think in the new game your chosen endings should be the new lifepaths if CDPR chooses to continue with V

  6. Imo, the Tower ending is the canon one. Not the best one, sure, but one where V’s story is done for good. If it happens after 2077, I can see it being the end given to V. Not dead but no way to come back for more than a cameo or an easter egg.

I hope V is not the protagonist of the next game. I hope we get another story featuring a lot of new faces and some friendly ones.

Very unlikely that witcher 4 will have anything to do with the witcher 3.

It’s possible they MIGHT simulate a save, but I think it’s more likely we’ll just be in a part of the world or at a point in time when the Witcher 3’s story is irrelevant.

  9. I don’t think they will continue V’s story. And it’s also not gonna be set in night city i think so they won’t matter that much, maybe just some references

  10. RedBear022

I’d change protagonist, V dies in every ending so it’d be stupid to find a cure or sum, it would destroy the feeling and the integrity of every final

  11. Witcher 3 mostly ignored Witcher 2 choices and completely ignored Witcher 1 choices. I wouldn’t expect much.

    1. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a new story. We might get so reference, but it won’t be a continuation.

    2. What choices? You pretty much only get to choose the ending. They will make one of them cannon and that’s it..

  13. Mr-hoffelpuff

they could just do the prequel with Morgan Blackhand in center or as some counter protagonist part as Johnny Silverhand had.

  14. BluesyPompanno

The safest option would be Phantom Liberty ending because

    – Smasher is alive as he’s crucial for the RPG

    – NC is invaded by NUSA and Arasaka left and the corpo war still happens just sooner

    – V doesn’t matter because he dissapeard for 2 years and his rep would be gone

    – Arasaka is weakened by Yorinobu and he would still be alive, Mikoshi and other stuff are still intact

The only thing that would matter is the stuff centered around the AI and the Blackwall, because the games does tell you multiple times that AIs from beyond the Blackwall managed to breach through it. So they would be the only ones who would in some capacity acknowledge V as he interacted with them the most.

This conversation in Witcher 3 is awesome. I love this method of handling things

V is mostly likely get all the other legends treatments.
    1. Cocktail in Afterlife.

    2. Killed smasher. I think we do it in all endings.

    3. The rest will be rumors if even mentioned. Like I heard she stormed Arasaka tower alone… no no she stole Militech equipment and together with some other gonks stormed Arasaka. If even mentioned.

Very much doubt this will be the case. The choice differences in Witcher 2 are pretty minor compared to CP77. In some endings V is dead. Either they’ll pick a cannon ending (which I doubt too), or avoid referencing the first game too much, sticking to vague references. That could be done easily with either a time jump (forward or backward) or a new city.
