The fact that 4 people found it helpful is also pretty mind-boggling. I struggle to think of a higher performing gaming laptop than a 4090 and a 14th Gen i9.

Assume the minimum spec of RTX 4090 Mobile, which is the 120 watt SKU. This runs its AD103 at a maximum clock of 1695 MHz and has 76 active SMs on die, identical to the desktop 4080, if heavily declocked. It would run at a maximum throughput of 32.9 TFLOPS. RAM is specced at 576 GB/s, again similar to a heavily declocked desktop 4080.
Can the best possible RTX 3080 mobile keep up? The GA104 used in RTX 3080 Mobile can run at a maximum TDP of 150 watts, where it will reach 1710 MHz (it goes as low as 115 watts in cheaper bins) and has 48 active SMs (it’s a massively declocked RTX 3070 Ti) for a peak throughput of 18.98 TFLOPs. RAM is specified at 448 GB/s.
No matter which way you slice it, the 4090 Mobile is far, far more powerful than even the top spec 3080 Mobile.
Had the reviewer done his research, he would have known this. Sadly, he did not, and now is making himself look stupid.
