Over 600 hours in cyberpunk the devs actually put in the time to animate v talking when answering a holo call. I really appreciate the work they’ve done in this game
If they got third person to work then being able to see yourself talk to people would have been an important part of taking a holo call. But it didn’t work out. Might have also been a story telling call since V does cough and fall over a lot and it wouldn’t be the same in third person view.
I saw a video on it once, it’s apparently really hard to have a game do both first and third in a way that makes sense with the camera and also with the minds expectations. You have to have two character models at all times if you want to let the player swap between them. One version looks like an regular character for third person view. One version looks like a weird choppy version of slenderman so that when it’s arms and feet are in the first person view it ‘looks’ right for first person view.

If you call Jackie there is an automated voice message, something like “the caller is not available”. If you look at V you can see their lips moving in sync with that message, it’s hilarious.

the lip animations tend to bug out for me, so v is just always flapping their lips when on a bike even when not on holo

They didn’t actually specifically animate V- there’s a really impressive technology behind the lip animations of this game where it procedurally matches the sound. [https://youtu.be/fa3_Mfqu8KA](https://youtu.be/fa3_Mfqu8KA) It just happens to be also applied to V here, without any extra “effort” to do so. Not to discount how cool this is though, because it’s really pretty fascinating how it works and I’m sure it was very hard to code.

V’s lips are always moving with the dialogue even when you don’t see it. And in the Tower ending you can actually watch yourself talking in the mirror while calling your friends
