Crimping pliers and a bag of RJ45 ethernet connectors from aliexpress should be in every PC nerd’s toolbox.

  2. liselisungerbob

Bro single-cabledly beated ethernet on latency

  3. Vegetable_Cup_6576

But didn’t she win gold and he only won silver?

  4. Plaston_

Wifi are not stable at time but its usefull to connect random shit to it without having 10 ethernet cable of various brands and quality running trough your home

  5. XHSJDKJC

Nothing better than ethernet snek, WiFi spaceships are overrated

  6. creamcolouredDog

I don’t regret paying more for the convenience of not having to drag a long cable to my bedroom

  7. Fantastic_Class_3861

    I mean I have a 30€ WiFi 6 router and I get 900-940mbps and about 12ms ping with it. And the 25m cat6 cable it’s connected too cost 17€.

Any idea how to get better speeds on Wifi? Speedport 3 is router, and on mesh that is connected by ethernet cable, speed went from 250 to 50mbit, and my ISP is retarded and they had it “tested” and said it works. It does, but at 1/5 of what it used to work at.
Got a wifi booster, its utter shit, tpLink one, now I connect to router, near it I have 500mbps, 10 m away I have 35
    My wired connection is 1000/500

I use ethernet for all my computers and wifi 6E for my VR headset. Overall it works quite well.

literally the first thing I brought when I purchased a home was cable rods and wall plates to install ethernet through the house.

Homes these days need ethernet as standard and a utility cupboard with enough space for a switch cabinet!

  11. I use “PLC” (traduction from French where we call it CPL, but i have never really seen it mentioned by English speaking people),

It is the best of both worlds for me, since my Internet router is at the other end of my flat, so having a 25 meters Ethernet Cable would be problematic.

I long for the future when RJ45 will be incorporated in every power outlet in every room…

  12. If you own a house where running eithernet doesn’t cost thousands of dollars I agree. Going between floors in a 1920s dudtch colonial requires plaster and ceiling panel work lol. Was one of the 1st things I was going to do until I realized the layout.

For anything, really. Wired is just the way to go. I don’t game but I run a Plex server and have a NAS with about 40TB of data. Main living room TV and Roku are even hard wired to the router in my house.

  14. leonardob0880

    7??!!!

I never spent more than $3 in 10ft cat7 one on AliExpress

  15. SurSheepz

That $7 cable will out perform that router any day.

  16. MoonzyMooMooCow

Nothing beats ethernet, but my mom sure would beat the hell out of me for pulling a cable across the living room.

    I’m asian. It’s custom. With flip-flops.

  17. logically yes.

But some people are not able to route an ethernet to their pc/laptops.

So when WiFi 7 comes out, it’ll be a game changer in wifi speeds.

  18. thewallamby

That is the worse comparison i have ever seen… She actually won the gold medal.

  19. until you realise your integrated NIC sucks, like my Intel Ethernet I-225(3) which makes packet loss and huge ping despite I try anything to reduce it.

  20. My PC is cabled, but I still need exceptional Wifi for VR.

But an expensive router cannot fix a bad placement or a crowded band.

My cheapish WiFi6 access point delivers up to 1.4gbps in the real world and 1.2GHz through a cement wall to my Quest 3. And it doesn’t even have the 6GHz frequency.

  21. mcdougall57

Usually stick with powerline. Probably makes sense if you have stud walls but in England it’s all brick.

  22. Renzo-Senpai

People just don’t want to in the work to properly run the wires which I totally understand. But insults I won’t excuse.

  23. Elcrest_Drakenia

My current situation means that wifi is much faster than ethernet lmao

  24. ok-bikes

Still don’t get better then second place.

  25. sinterkaastosti23

My gigachad wifi reaches 770v&^62 with 10-13 ping all with 0 package loss while being a story above my router

  26. MXXIV666

Heh, I bought cat6 cable and had a lot of fun trying to crimp that. I don’t even know if it actually has any benefit apart from being thick and heavy as hell.

  27. creativename111111

I can’t get one put in lol I wish

  28. goddamluke

You can’t connect the ethernet cable straight to the wall and get internet. You will still need a router, and a decent one at that. A very cheap or outdated router will bottleneck even wired connections. I’m really surprised not a lot of people have mentioned this, seeing as a lot of people on this sub have a massive ego and think they are some sort of tech wizard all of a sudden because they built their own PC 😂

  29. MacroPlanet

Tried and true for decades. Just give a wall to jack into and I’ll show you a great time in a virtual world.

  30. Active_Club3487

Or a trip wire running across the carpet

  31. Beautiful_Ad_4813

I’ve done my fair share of gaming over wireless with little to no problems *goes over and pats my UniFi network*
