My cousin just sent me this picture asking if I had pre-ordered the upcoming call of duty. I haven’t played COD in several years and just signed in to make sure no one had purchased it in my account, which no one has. Yet on my cousins screen, it shows my icon saying I was a friend that had preordered it. Pretty shady in my opinion.

My friend came up to me the other day and said “so I see you’ve pre ordered the new cod…” which I very much hadn’t. Seems like this is a systemic issue.
His other friend probably pre-ordered it and it used a random image of his friends (yours) to show the “friends” line.

I’ve seen this thing before. If you’ve played a demo or something from the game it for some reason would say you pre ordered it. I think I first saw this around when forespoken was about to release. And seeing how the cod games are all placed into this cod HQ thing, it wouldn’t be farfetched that have it say you pre ordered it when you didn’t

This happened to my buddy. He got the woods skins in warzone but never preordered.
This is happening to nearly everyone I know who play COD currently. I know one person has pre-ordered, and yet, their online profiles all say they have pre-ordered when they havent.
My son looked at this game yesterday and it said I have 109 friends who have preordered, which is doubtful.
My buddy said the same thing about me. Never preordered the game but recently did download warzone. Not sure if it’s connected in anyway or just a weird bug.
This has been happening for years, happened to me a few times, in fact it said I had pre ordered Elden Ring, you can check my game history and see I’ve never played a second of it…. dunno why everyone is being accusative… it’s obviously a shady tactic used by Sony.
Oh, this has happened to me as well. I’m pretty confident it’s a lie to get people to actually get it. I think the last one that said I did this was for Forespoken. Which I have never even purchased after release.

Probably a system fuck up either on PS or Activision side. I doubt this is a shady marketing ploy since it wouldn’t really work/make sense. That and their marketing for BO6 has been pretty phenomenal for the majority of their audience anyway.

I’ve seen games listed I’ve played there for others that I have never played and I’ve seen games say they are played by friends in the store when I know they dont (no demo or anything). Probably a glitch, but if they are knowingly advertising to friends that you play something you don’t to get them to purchase it, that should be looked into.
This is like those commercials that say you have 31 seconds to order for this “great deal”, but then the commercial plays again 10 minutes later and you apparently get another 31 seconds.
When I checked it said a majority of my friends pre-ordered. I highly doubt that. I honestly think it says “pre ordered” if you either A. Played a demo or B. If you played any of the other “editions”, like MW3 or COD Warzone (which is free and most likely the case).
Everyone is suggesting it might be another user with the same avatar, but as a person that also uses that Motorstorm picture, you are definitely the first person I’ve seen other than myself with it, lol.
If you have cod hq or have ever used it on playstation it counts as a pre order I believe. Inoticed this the other day, it seemed like everyone who has ever played cod in the last 5 years has pre ordered it.
Do you have game pass? Maybe it’s counting game pass users as preorders since the game comes out day one for GP.
Real answer: all cods use the same launcher, so if you’ve ever bought one of them (or even played warzone) it shows you’ve played all recent cod’s and pre ordered any upcoming ones.
