Peoples also hate epic cause of fortnit popularity (and most important, money produce) that changed how most studios make games , like Overwatch was release before and got “free” lootbox, while now there is temporary shop, battlepass, limited cosmetic, etc
Also not logical cosmetic like in Rainbow 6 siege where it’s a miracle if they release a new cosmetic military theme
Or simply cosmtic costing minimum 10€ in every recent games, to compare in LittleBigPlanet, Aloy costume cost 2€, in fortnite it’s ~15€, and in LBP you can change every elements (like having Kratos skin with Venom Snake hair and Cloud gloves and sword) while in fornite it’s just the model (and sometime the possiblity to have an alternative version)
edit: got some downvote, but you can see it by yourself, since fortnite the number of games with the same monetisation about FOMO rised a lot, and it’s a reason why some peoples don’t like epic

I love it whenever epic is mentioned in this subreddit. Reminds me how young a lot of you are. It is a storefront. Don’t use it if you don’t want to. You can live a perfectly healthy and normal life if you never interact with it. It is a digital storefront you have to install on your pc. What a weird thing to be obsessed about.

Same with Ubisoft and For Honor. Imagine playing a match for 10 min then it crashes dight before the and all progress/rewards are gone.
Combined with the daily task “play 3 matches” it was extremely annoying.

all these posts saying “epic is so great look what game is free this time!” are idiots, they popularized the absolute worst monetization tactics in gaming which bled into almost every other studio and now we have live service batman games flopping every year.

Got dying light 1 for free on epic a while ago, kept getting fatal errors playing SP, after each one the game lost my save files so i had to do the fatal restart followed by a manual restart to find the save. 2 restarts per crash, one crash per hour. That kills the motivation to play lol.
