Concluding from my experience with Microsoft / Xbox account creation and support pages as a consumer I completely believe them although it sounds very dumb.

“This situation is unbelievable! The buggy system is unusable! Only 2900 other games managed to get through this mess!”
sophisticaden_
I’m sure it was not “impossible” to initiate inquiries. They ran into bugs, got frustrated, and decided not to pursue.

Ah Microsoft Partner Center, someone in IT and who works with Microsoft knows all about it. Guess there are many people that could help too, including me.
Fatzmanz
They honestly should have said nothing. This just comes off as whining and incompetence

This user posts flame war stuff all the time.

wtf is haak
they seem like complete ameteurs to me
MofuckaJones14
We say this is crazy now, but give it a few more months/years and there will be less and less devs trying to do anything with Microsoft/Xbox simply because it’s too much of a pain in the ass because Microsoft wants it that way. The sirens should be nonstop regarding Microsoft’s downhill direction in the gaming industry
cat_prophecy
I’m sure the ten people affected by this will be very sad.
Sword_Queen
But have they tried opening it in Edge tho

HAAK? Tuah?

As someone whose original Microsoft account isn’t accessible anymore because Microsoft reduced the character limit on the answer to the secret question text box to 1 less than my original answer, I am completely unsurprised. Microsoft support services are dogshit outside of their super corporate premium support plans (think state/federal governments and huge companies all running Windows and want priority support when it crashes).
Their general customer support lines work are intended to prevent you ever contacting an actual human being (who they would have to pay) to help address a problem.
That said, this post is clearly supposed to gain traction online to get Microsoft to pull their thumb out. The devs wouldn’t be saying “It would only take us 2 weeks” otherwise.

This just reeks of incompetence. The Xbox store and the Xbox platform isn’t new it’s had plenty of games released on it and released on it after other consoles.
ACorania
Strange how all these other companies figured it out.
LicensedGoomba
I had an issue with the partner center once, called support, they sent me to one section of Microsoft, told them the problem, sent me back to the same people I had just called, and it went on like that for 30 minutes before I realized no one wanted to actually help me or knew how to actually help me.
Koctopuz
Never saw a fanboy post so much to try to single handedly keep the console war alive. OP has no life.
joestaff
It’s not the first time I’ve heard of devs having issues with Microsoft’s processes involving getting a game on Xbox.
Pretty sure PalWorld’s EA release on Xbox PC Store was troubled by an outdated version and a super slow update time. The game was missing dozens of features and didn’t even have an exit button, lol. Granted, that’s not *all* Microsoft’s fault, but it could’ve been immediately remedied by Microsoft.
SheepWolves
Probably hit some issues and seen a opportunity to try get some free press for this game no one’s heard of.
iskin
Back in the day, if I ran into an issue that Microsoft Support wouldn’t fix I would call it out on Twitter. Then I would either get the solution or a number to someone qualified enough to fix it.
MannToots
Lots of other companies figure it out
YorgiTheMagnificent
Standards exist for a reason, so sorry you didn’t make the cut.
mrgoodshoes
This is one of those things where yes, that’s very believable from having dealt with MS… but posting this is extremely unprofessional and is the sort of public whining you do not do. End up not really having any sympathy for the devs, cause if they act like this, then I doubt it’s really wholly on MS.
ametsun
I’ve heard other developers who had issues with the Xbox platform when trying to get the game on the system. They don’t seem to care about anyone if you’re not a first party developer.
Crillmieste-ruH
What game is this? First time i heard about it.
Reach-Nirvana
This sounds like the dumbest excuse ever, yet my experience across numerous Xbox accounts leads me to believe it’s completely true lol

shinoff2183
Believable.
My debit card expired, it wouldn’t work on my series x I mean the new one. So called Xbox which was a headache enough for a real person contact. Anyway they said banks fault, bank said Ms fault, this went back and forth a few times and finally someone on Microsofts side was able to get my card accepted. Why the fk didn’t you do that to begin with Xbox support.
No-Orange-5216
I mean plenty of others manage to do it just fine. Doesnt sound like a very good team going by this statement.
COD_ricochet
Every single video game fan including Xbox fans of which I am one (despite much preferring PlayStation), should be furious at Xbox this generation.
Why?
Xbox leadership chose to screw everyone because they are all very highly incompetent. They decided to make 2 different hardware power skews at the beginning of a console generation. The Xbox Series X which is very powerful, and the Xbox Series S which is virtually the same power as last generation hardware.
They then required all developers who wanted to include their games on Xbox to develop all games to support not just the Series X but also the very comparatively weak Series S.
What did this do to all gamers including PS5 third-party gamers? It made all of our third-party games be held back in graphics and physics. If Xbox never made the Series S then all third-party games would be developed with far better assets, polygon counts, geometry, textures, etc.
It’s truly amazing but Xbox does almost every single thing wrong. It’s like they’re trying as hard as they possibly can to fail absolutely constantly.
ArmadaOnion
I can’t wait for HAAK Two..

OP’s entire life is console wars lmao

Lmfao, we could have ported the game, but we couldn’t figure out how to create an account. Not only that, the Xbox people didn’t know, and the Microsoft people told us to fuck off.
Murderdoll197666
What game is this for, the only thing that came up when I searched for HAAK was just an indie 2d singleplayer/sidescroller/metroidstyle game on Steam. I can fully believe the devs about the Microsoft side…some of their systems are so fucking dumb lol. I’m curious what game they’re actually referencing if its not that indie game though.
Gerrut_batsbak
Microsoft support is fucking terrible.
If I can, I will avoid purchasing any and all Microsoft products.
It’s just not worth the headache when something goes wrong.
Every aspect of their systems seem to be riddled with bugs bigs and issues.
