Dragon Age: The Veilguard gets the EA special: 23 deluxe-exclusive cosmetics, 2 editions that don’t include the game, pre-order armor, and 3 artbook editions alone
Dragon Age: The Veilguard gets the EA special: 23 deluxe-exclusive cosmetics, 2 editions that don’t include the game, pre-order armor, and 3 artbook editions alone
After seeing the initial gameplay I may honestly skip this. I enjoyed Origins and 3 but the franchise name honestly doesn’t have the same weight to it anymore to me.
N7_Reaver
Guess I’m cynical but I don’t see this game doing anything other than bombing hard. Who is this game even for?
LordShnooky
Dragon Age: Origins is one of my favorite western RPGs ever and had so much promise. DA2 wasn’t perfect and sadly rushed, but still had a lot of heart. Inquisition had some good writing and characters, but the grindy MMO-lite design was a step in the wrong direction. Everything about this one looks and feels wrong; from the art style, character designs, and reveal trailer to the fact the devs seem to constantly shit on the old games to try to pump this up in their statements. Passing on this one; pretty sure BioWare is dead, which sucks because 20 years ago they were my favorite studio.
The-vicobro
Just reading that hurt my brain and soul.
Id hate to still be a fan.
ByakuyaKuchiki6th
Looks like Fortnite with swords.
WayneZer0
its already dead. weird how ea makes one good game. and 20 bad ones it sense of money
Rose-Red-Witch
Yeah… *maybe* I’ll consider buying it on Steam a year or two from now with the right sale but I’m *very* doubtful after that reading that.
Hot_Cheese650
That too much bullshit packaged with a game. Hard pass for me.
Ashencroix
Did I just read the article correctly? They’re selling editions of the game… that doesn’t include the game? Who the F started this trend of selling game bundles/editions, that doesn’t include the actual game? I vaguely recall one of the GoW:Ragnarok editions don’t include the game too.
clothanger
i think this is the first time i see someone wearing a plate armor with small leather pockets across the chest like this warrior girl in the middle of the thumbnail.
that looks weird, is it just me?
WiseCoyote1820
lol, as if I needed another whole ass reason to skip on this game. I already wasn’t a huge fan of what they showed so far, but this pretty much seals it for me.
PinkRudeTurtle
I’ll take my 0$ edition with no game, any cosmetics, armors and artbook, thank you.
knightfenris
I love this series but $20 for some armor and cosmetics is… ugh.
TheRisos
The artbooks are literally a separate project lol, clickbait article

NO HEAR ME OUT!
Don’t preorder anything. Wait 8 months and get *all* of this shit on sale.
oneupkev
While I’m interested in this game being a fan of the franchise, no pre-ordering.
No damn pre-ordering ever. Not in this era of gaming where broken products are often available.
The fact that they are once again doing the whole Ubisoft approach with deluxe versions is just annoying as well
Mountain-Cycle5656
Let’s be fair here. Origins included ads for DLC IN THE GAME.
So it’s not like this kind of behavior should be surprising.
stonehaven22
Hearing it’s EA im gonna wait for review
Jaden374
“Hit em with the EA special” 🤣
redjoker89
I’m sad cause I was excited a few years ago. Now seeing it come out in two months and I don’t even like the trailer they’ve shown.
bafras
Wait, there are game editions that don’t even let you play the game??!
CalmPanic402
Dragon Age: FOMO edition
Almacca
Complain all you want, but they only keep doing this bullshit because it works.
Brookie069
I can’t get past the art style… it might be an excellent game, but after seeing games and the beauty in them like Witcher 3, Baldurs Gate 3, etc that just seems like one weird choice.
reala728
i really hope this doesnt pan out, but in my gut i know it will. hopefully at least for every 20% of the fanbase they alienate, its not recouped or exceeded from the “die hards” that are willing to spend $300 on a game they barely know anything about.
Lopad_NotThePokemon
Why is everyone going crazy over this? It’s pretty much par for the course nowadays and you don’t have to buy it the deluxe editions. It’s for people who are fans of the series and want a little something extra.
Also, I feel like a small group of people on Reddit are the only ones who care about getting a digital copy of the game vs physical. A lot of computers don’t even have disc drives anymore.
NfiniteNsight
So many whiners in here.
Just don’t buy this stuff. It’s easy.
Also crazy how absolutely sure so many people are that this game is going to be trash based on basically nothing.
CheetahOld6251
Glad i preordered the game
Electronic-Fruit-157
Despite my low expectations I really hope at least the story and characters will e able to reignite the love I once had for this series. The world of Thedas is just so full of potential and the Solas storyline could be a banger.
Maybe I should just wait until the game releases and not dwell on it anymore.
trickybirb
Frankly, unless you are anti-merchandising (for whatever reason) there’s no justified reason to bitch about this.
None of this stuff has any impact on gameplay. It’s just merch, and you can enjoy the entire game without buying any of it.
BrockSnilloc
EA’s a $38bn company and I really wish they weren’t
HeftyChonkinCapybara
Fuck them, fuck their game and their convoluted shitty DLCs and fucking graded versions.
So tired of this. As Ross Scott said “I’m gonna buy this as soon as it becomes as cheap as a sandwich.”
bosch181998
I’ve ordered the game because I’m a sucker for BioWare and RPGS
This felt tame compared of what Ubisoft pulls with their golden edition even if they include dlcs and special missions ( they are been doing it twice this year )
One year ago they did something similar with dead space ( exclusive armors ) and it didn’t bother anyone
So don’t buy any deluxe edition ( or even don’t buy the game until reviews )
So even if this is a good game they don’t get any ideas for the sequel ( if there’s even one and they don’t shut down BioWare )
Aggravating-Dot132
And?
Don’t buy it. Buy on release and play the game. Get the fancy stuff for 3$ after a couple of months.
wolftri
..? Just about every AAA launches with a deluxe edition that’s 20-30$ above the regular version, absolutely nothing different here. The collectors’ chests are there if you want physical merch, and they’ve decoupled the game itself from the merch so you can get just that if you’re interested. The pricing for those is pretty fair for what it offers. Just pointless hate-training at this point. If you want to meaningfully combat shit business practices such as battle passes, gacha, microtransactions, and fomo; stop equating traditional and non predatory ones to it.
xxpinkplasticbagxx
A lot of the stuff that comes with the Collector’s Edition looks so cheap like the lotion flask.
The skins and weapon skins that come w the deluxe edition are not my thing.
I’ll probably pre-order for the Blood Dragon Armor though 👀👌
Is there really three artbooks? WTF.
Commander-S_Chabowy
Artbooks without game are a blessing. Wished so many times I could buy just the artbook
Julle1990
All of the deluxe edition stuff is just cosmetics, and the “collectors edition” is just merch stuff and it directly says it doesn’t contain the game, you buy it on A MERCH site
People complain about the stupidest things

Solh0und
Didn’t inquisition do something similar with it’s deluxe edition? I read this and went “Of course they’re doing this again….”
NovaPrime2285
Bruh ya’ll always say “Fuck EA” so how about ya’ll ACTUALLY develop a fucking backbone and NOT BUY THEIR SHIT.
Gamers that actually practice what they preach, wouldn’t that be a surprise.
Clueless_Otter
I don’t really get the outrage. If you don’t want all that fancy extra stuff, just… don’t buy those editions? I’m not seeing how this is a difficult concept. If you only want the game, simply buy the basic edition for regular price. It’s not as if it’s deceptive or hidden in any way.
It’d be like staying in a hotel and only wanting the most basic room they have then getting mad that they have more luxurious suites or a penthouse. Those products existing for people who want them doesn’t harm you. If you don’t want them, just ignore them.
pureeyes
It doesn’t exist to me now. No worries, I’ll just pick up the GOTY edition in 2027
JonnyRico22
I’ll never pre-order a game again after getting burned by ME:A.
Not that I’ll spend a dime on modern Bioware.
