Why? Just let him use it. He’ll likely push it just as hard a stress test would with a more realistic workload. Are you going to open up a dispute if it fails and make him wait longer? I can’t imagine it’s going to be any different of a process of returning it fails in a synthetic test vs just gaming.

I think that test is kinda outdated, would be better to test it on 3D Mark or some videogames, just don’t use Furmark, that shite burns GPUs.

I test my gpus (both new and used) by straight up just playing the most intensive game I own lol.

Got him a 1080 and tested it for 30 minutes to make sure he gets a good gpu

Just wanted to make sure everything was 100% for him.
As your kid grows he’ll appreciate it and it’ll show him you wanted to be 1000% sure he gets something good that WORKS.

Side note: Unigine Heaven is pretty dated at this point and isn’t exactly the most reliable stress test / bench for modern day GPU’s. I would recommend running **OCCT** and utilizing both the VRAM test *(90% Memory Usage – 15 minutes)* as well as the 3D Adaptive test *(5 – 100% load range at a 5% stepping every 3+ minutes)*. You can also use **MSI Kombuster** in **Artifact Scanner** mode using multiple open instances of the VRAM usage donut test to get as close as possible to 100% VRAM use, this will not only put the core under maximum load but also VRAM, and the memory controller on the core. It will also keep a log of when artifacts are detected. If the card passes both of the above tests then it’s good to go.
Congratulations to your son for saving up enough to get a GPU upgrade, and congratulations to you for teaching him the importance of properly testing anything you buy used whether that be a car or PC hardware! I plan on teaching these same skills to my son as well when he gets old enough and he’s going to either enjoy the thoroughness of it or hate it seeing as his dad is the guy who handles warranty fulfillment board level diagnostics and repairs for a lot of major manufacturers.

Yeah just did a quick 1 hour Heaven test to check temps. He really only likes light weight games so not too worried. It’s an RX 570 8gb. Works great!
Eh let him play games, then overnight run furmark to actually stress test the system.
Running heaven seems somewhat pointless.

I was trying to understand what went wrong in the scenario. But now I get it… it’s doing a benchmark run to see how well the GPU performed in order to ascertain its limits and potentials with whatever software currently available.
