They were on a roll with the adaptations

Movies are always going to be worse than a prestige television show.

Didn’t shooting for borderlands end in 2021? And was stuck in post production hell for over two years?

Looking forward for the memes that will come lol

  4. LooseSpaghet

Movie production companies have lost the plot at this point. Streaming services are going to put out better content 99% of the time these days.

  5. There’s no links here, each of those adaptations are made by different people for different studios

I don’t know what those execs and Eli Roth were doing but, seriously, just play the game, be it Borderlands or that Yakuza/Like a dragon Amazon thing…

They can at least play the damn game before playing with their millions $ of budget

  6. SilverFlight01

The leading people behind the film didn’t even play the game, or so I heard, literally a repeat of Halo

  7. MrMindGame

Craig Maizin ran with The Last of Us so he could trip on his feet and face plant with Borderlands, lol.

Soon as I saw the trailer I knew it was gunna be a shit show. Terrible casting and writing. Such a shame, likely won’t see another attempt at an adaptation for ten years unless they do a show and don’t fuck that too

In fairness I think Borderlands shot before any of the others. It didn’t get the memo that you could actually put out respectable media outside the game.

That said, Borderlands at its source is cornball bullshit, so to take that and distill nothing but the worst is almost its own talent.

Finally, if you are making a movie/show out of a video game IP, and you can’t even win over your core base, you’re going to most likely have a bad time.

You put moster hunter up there with borderlands also

To be fair this graphic would be valid if just critiquing the games themselves (especially if we’re counting borderlands 2)

I am kinda concerned for the yakuza show. Like they said they’re not doing any goofy side content (which is fine ig…), no karaoke (unbelievable sin, should have been a different song every post credit-scene) and I hope theyll actually do kiwami majima instead of yakuza 1 kinda cool but somewhat weird majima.

Are we just gonna gloss over halo and the witcher

I hope whoever decided Kevin Hart could be an action lead is ritually sacrificed to the Hollywood lizard demons.

Of all the franchises you gotta wonder why they picked borderlands.

They could have made a really cool cartoon out of it or something but it really lacks the depth to be a movie.

I heard the Borderlands movie was going to be an Adaptation of the Borderlands 2 DLC ‘The Pre-Sequel’, where you play as the Vault Hunters from the first game, not the second game, but the second game’s characters are going to be in the movie too.

And the game has a completely different story than the movie.

You have to try to go out of your way to make a film that bad.

  18. Bubster101

The actors they chose for Roland, Tina and Claptrap I’d say were pretty good choices. Otherwise eh.

And was that Krieg? Instead of Brick? Because Krieg was in BL2…

    Edit: also WHERE’S MORDECAI???

    > It’s so much worse than expected

    What did you expect?

  20. deceptivekhan

Borderlands sucks anyway. Never liked the games.

  21. Beaver_Tuxedo

To be fair, every other video game adaption other than those two has been a complete mess except the Witcher for a season or two
