Damn I was hoping they’d axe Alienware.

I wish that before all these execs “pivoted” to AI, they could… you know, identify a single use case where AI computing benefited the customers?
Instead, it’s just another marketing buzzword they can use to raise prices.
… Oh, and layoffs. Cuz you know. Bonuses and golden parachutes and stuff.

This is going to start happening more and more. All these tech workers are doomed. They are all going to skeleton crews real fast and eventually no crew.
I think these tech companies just want it to be the CEO, Investors and AI. No actual human anymore, which means no salaries, no benefits being paid. Just pure profit.

What is AI hardware? Does anyone know?

I would say they’re giving up on the PC market but it felt like they did that 5+ years ago

with all the lay-offs: who will those companies sell their shit to?
Stilgar314
It doesn’t say they are replacing employees with AI, but anyway, the statement is basically corpo bullshit: It says they are focusing on sell datacenters to train AI, and weirdly enough, they plan to accomplish this selling goal by firing mostly employees on sales and marketing areas. I guess Dell is simply not doing alright.

Another company to boycott (not that I bought stuff from them). Consumers should be equally as ruthless with these companies as they’re with their employees.
It’s the Linked in AI evangelist circleje** spilled into the CEO echelon. Husks.

Man the days of The Intership (2014) seem to be long gone.

I work in ML as a research engineer. And the funniest fucking thing about the whole AI craze is how the research domain has crazy good stuff going on yet the stuff that these companies care about are trash products or integrations nobody cares about. It’s like the amazing collection of work gets boiled down to mind numbing cash grabs. Oh and cheap LLM plugins into LITERALLY EVERY FUCKING THING.

I hope that if anything, this AI nonsense really gets people to start unionizing.

Ah yes, Dell. A prestigious company that we should all trust with AI.

Makes me want to create a corpo-ipsum where “Boost AI Pivot” is how the paragraphs start.

AI is such an overused buzzword that it doesn’t even mean anything anymore. This is equivalent to me shitting my pants and blaming it on AI
