I’d like to be optimistic and say “This is great! They’re going to release a decent 8GB entry level GPU that outperforms the RTX 3050 6GB while finally hitting the $120 price point that the market has been missing for years!” but at this point, I’m so cynical, that I just can’t bring myself to hope.
Instead, I’m guessing the RX 7400 will perform like an RX 580 and be priced at $200 because it seems like Radeon is actually incapable of giving consumers value at launch these days.
Call me again in a year when market forces inevitably drive the price to about $100 and make the card a not terrible option, while still uncompelling…
The optimist in me: Awesome! Entry level 6/8 GB video cards for 1080p and casual gaming! Nice!
The pessimist in me: Did you fucking see what they did with the 6400 and 6500XT?
So amd are trying to compete with arc and old gpu’s. Will be cool for budget builds as long as it’s got performance

* These cards are expected to have fewer than 2048 cores, with potential memory configurations including 6GB with a 96-bit bus or 4GB with a 128-bit or 64-bit bus.
* The RX 7400 and RX 7300 would fill a gap in AMD’s current lineup, offering sub-$200 options and potentially upgrading from their RDNA2 predecessors in terms of core count.
* To be competitive, these new cards would need to outperform AMD’s integrated RDNA3 graphics solutions found in the Ryzen 8000G series processors.
If they’re full-sized cards, I won’t really care; I feel like budget segment of the market is decently populated rn.
But half-height, single-slot, and/or one-fan models? Sign me the fuck up
I used the RX 6400 for a while because I was stuck on an old Optiplex and didn’t have the money for a SFF GTX 1650. I really hope they don’t kneecap these ones like they did with the 6400.
7300 probably a bit faster than a 1060 😂
If, and that’s a big if considering what they did with the 6000 series budget segment, the price makes sense, I could see them being used.
But man having to have so much scepticism for something that used to be a pretty reasonable expectation stings…
